Beef Rendang (Indonesia Spicy Dried Curry)

Hi you all in Steemit. It’s very great I think to share you a recipe now about how to make one of the most popular Indonesia dish, called “rendang”. Morover, today is raining at my home so it gonna be a very wonderful choice to have beef rendang and a hot plate of cooked rice. However, if you dont like kind of spicy food, this recipe can be adjusted as well.

Shortly, here is the recipe that you may follow for cooking.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 kg of beef, cut 4x4x2 cm along the meat fibres
  • 2 Indonesian bay leaves
  • 3 kaffir lime leaves, slicd
  • 1 lemongrass, bruised and tied up
  • 3 litres coconut milk from 4 matured coconut or 600 ml canned coconut milk
  • 1 turmeric leaves, sliced
  • 2 cup water, if necessary
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 clove of red onion, sliced

Indonesian Rendang Spicy Paste:

  • 15 red onions
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 250 gr red chillies or cayenne pepper
  • 4 cm ginger
  • 3 cm galagal
  • 4 cm turmeric
  • 4 candlenuts
  • salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Clean the meats and put them into a bowl.

  • Mix the meats with salt and lime juice.

  • Further, add the milk, sliced kaffir lime leaves and turmeric leaves, 2 bay leaves, and rendang spicy paste into the bowl of meats.

  • Heat up the oil, saute the sliced red onion and tied lemongrass until brownish.

  • Add the bowl of meat with coconut milk and pour it, also continoue to stir it gently until the broth is thicken.

  • Continoue stirring and cook it until you’ve got rendang with a nice dark brown color and the oil driven from the sauce.

  • Serve the beef rendang with steaming hot rice.

Rendang Daging Sapi

BAHAN:

  • 1 kg daging sapi
  • 2 lembar daun salam
  • 3 lembar daun jeruk, diiris
  • 1 batang serai
  • 3 liter santan
  • 1 lembar daun kunyit, diiris
  • 2 cangkir air
  • 4 sendok makan minyak
  • 1 siung bawang merah, diiris

Bumbu Rendang:

  • 15 siung bawang merah
  • 8 siung bawang putih
  • 250 gr cabe merah
  • 4 cm jahe
  • 3 cm laos
  • 4 cm kunyit
  • 4 kemiri
  • garam

CARA MEMBUAT:

  • Cuci daging sapi yang telah dipotong dan masukkan kedalam mangkok.
  • Beri garam dan perasan air jeruk nipis kedaging tersebut.
  • Selanjutnya masukkan santan, irisan daun jeruk dan daun kunyit, 2 lembar daun salam, dan bumbu rendang yang telah dihaluskan kedalam magkok daging santan tersebut.
  • Panaskan minyak, dan tumis bawang merah serta serai hingga berwarna kemerahan.
  • Selanjutnya masukkan daging serta santan tersebut kedalam wajan, aduk perlahan hingga kuahnya kental.
  • Lanjutkan adukannya dan masak hinga rendang berwarna kecoklatan dan keluar minyak dari kuah kalio rendang.
  • Sajikan rendang daging sapi dengan nasi panas.
