Great contribution. I diverge slightly on why the control grid is being (has been) established to the extent it has. I am not sure it is so much about protecting the population as controlling the population so that any challenges to the unelected plutocracy can be preemptively dealt with by feeding the data into predictive simulations such as the Sentient World Simulation. If you aren't familiar with that, the potential for abuse and subjugation it portends is.... concerning to say the least. The information at the link is dated (2012) but still very much worth considering.
