Trade magazines. That is where engineers publish what they do for other engineers to keep up. NASA Tech Briefs and aerospace magazines, and there was a writeup in the COTS (commercial off the shelf) journal on the radar trade off system. They direct the missile close, then revert to their internal radar, for final guidance.

They radar illuminate from the ground to help the missile's onboard system. They also overdrive the onboard radar at a burnout level to assist in lockup. They will blow up the radar anyway, so why try to save it?

I suspect they are using the white noise radar system, so the missile will not know it is being painted, so there will be no threat detection.

sir smithlabs! well I don't understand much of that but it all sounds good.

It is VERY cutting edge, and is a technological leap that it a significant advantage for us! These anti ICBM Missiles are Very accurate, and will stop very close to 100% of the incoming threats. These are more accurate than any preceding system.

The white noise radar was my guess, not a published article. It is rather where i would have taken this project if I had control of it. I would love to try one of these radar systems!

sir smithlabs! Well that's very good to hear. Now if we can keep the Chinese from stealing the technology.
Where are these anti-missle rockets, or are they installed yet? I was led to believe that we don't have much
in the way of missle defense for the country except some ships with the Aegis system.

The contact kill was done during the initial war with Iraq (Desert Storm). The deployment is sadly classified and not in the trade magazines, But since they had decided on launch plans (triple launch) decades ago, I would say yes it is deployed.

It was originally part of Reagan's Star Wars defense shield, so it did take some serious time to design and test. Doing the active testing when they did was a way of hiding the test inside the war news.

The white noise radar addition was a guess, because that came after the test, but I would have added it!

Sadly, with BHO in control, we may have ordered large parts of this system from the Chinese. Carter sent IC technology (supposed to help their electronic industry) to the Russians that allowed them to make MIRVs almost overnight. The liberals have never had much common sense!

and don't forget one of your favorites, Bubba from your favorite hick state, who sold technology for millions in contributions to his campaign. Talk about treason.

It has been half a century since we had a patriot in the Whitehouse from the DNC! The last one that had any respect for this country was Carter, and he had zero backbone because he was liberal to the core.

Treason seems to be a primary plank in the DNC's platform, SMH!
