As much as we have wanted Trump to drain the Swamp with fire and sword, my interpretation of the Trump/DeepState war is that Trump wants to win both legally and with popular support.
So far, I have not really explained the concept of prepping the battlefield...I hope that the concept is obvious on it's face, but at some point I will get off my lazy ass and do a detail post. In the meantime, I'll just say it is getting your ducks in order to win...creating favorable conditions for yourself BEFORE battle.
So if my guess is right, Trump needs to prep the battlefield on both the lawfare and infowar fronts. We can see Trump's IW efforts all day long on Twitter! But public opinion doesn't matter if Trump tries to fight legally with a subverted legal team.
Let's face something real here...in a Justice Department polluted with democrats and deep state hacks, there is no JUSTICE. See Menedez and the Awan bothers...hell, see the release of the Muslim terrorists today by a democong judge...

Its litigation reflects the diversity of government activities, involving, for example, the defense of challenges to Presidential actions; national security issues; benefit programs; energy policies; commercial issues such as contract disputes, banking insurance, patents, fraud, and debt collection; all manner of accident and liability claims; enforcement of immigration laws; and civil and criminal violations of consumer protection laws

Hunt has spent the bulk of his career as the Director of the Federal Program's Branch.
Federal Programs Branch attorneys litigate on behalf of approximately 100 federal agencies, the President, Cabinet officers, and other government officials. They defend against constitutional challenges to federal statutes, suits to overturn government policies and programs, and attacks on the legality of government decisions. The Federal Programs Branch also initiates litigation to enforce regulatory statutes and to remedy statutory and regulatory violations.

Hunt served as Session's Chief of Staff from Feb. 2017 to Oct. 2017, at which point he became Senior Advisor to the Office of Legal Policy .

Analysis
This appointment strikes me the same as the possibility that Trump is actually serious about cleaning up the Deep State.
I just don't know.
If Hunt is indeed concerned with the integrity of the Justice Department, and not with politics (either as a leftist/globalist hack or as a MAGA guy), then he will help Trump enforce the goddamn law and to clean up the shitstorm that is Justice.
If Hunt is out to protect the image of the DOJ, then expect him to cover up the FBI/DOJ election crimes, maybe not in support of the Deep State, but instead to whitewash the public view of the DOJ.
I wish I could give you a clear sign this is a good appointment...my problem is that we will NOT know until jumptime...if that even happens
