From Padang to Pekanbaru is currently taken within nine hours of travel. The highway will cut the travel time to about three hours.
Last Friday, I inaugurated the commencement of construction of Padang-Pekanbaru toll road. The length is 244 kilometers with development cost Rp78 trillion.
In Padang - Pekanbaru toll road section will also be built several tunnels that total length almost nine kilometers, penetrate Bukit Barisan mountain belly. This will be the longest tunnel in Indonesia, it costs nine trillion rupiah!
The Padang-Pekanbaru toll road will lower logistics costs and improve competitiveness. When completed in 2023, this toll road will have a tremendous positive impact on the economy of West Sumatra and its surroundings. Not only about the transportation of products, but also facilitate the tourist access to the beauty of West Sumatra is so complete: religion, culture and nature.
