im also working on creating tiers for users, and in that new system, we would have to sort encoders by capabilities to optimize paying users (delegations or liquid tokens) over the fremium model.
So, its "in the works" to do such a thing. To answer your point, I guess yes, you would benefit from having more encoders. Sagar runs a few, but it matters if they have a good connection above all. People running encoders at home works, but every now and then someone uploads a 5gb raw video, and a home encoder really struggles.
its a round robin system... if a encoder node fails to respond within five minutes, the job gets re-assigned.
