The Q payment network will be successful because the first thing they do is creating a critical mass of users. They are going after community influencers and it only takes a small amount of influencers inspiring many people around the world. It will be used and it won't matter how it works as long as it's easy to use for everyone's mom and dad.
What is Q?

The Technology
Does this matter? Moms and Dads don't care about technology if it's simple, if it works, if everyone uses it... Initiative Q can use any technology that fits their needs.
Mass adoption is success, not the best technology. As long as buyers and sellers agree to Q as the payment it's a no brainer.
People Behind Initiative Q
"Initiative Q was founded by Saar Wilf, a serial entrepreneur who started his first payments start-up in 1997, and later founded Fraud Sciences, which redefined the payment security space and was acquired by PayPal in 2008." [3] [4]
There isn't more information available but based on his bio he should have tons of connections.
