Inktober - Risk

in #inktober4 years ago

The "Risk" prompt is the last entry for #inktober 2021. I came close to drawing the picture in October but was drafted to manning a door to reward kids doing "trick or treat." For the prompt I decided to draw a suspension bridge with a few aging planks. The idea that walking across an old bridge over a chasm is risky. Here is the final drawing.

Proof of Art

I drew the picture from imagination. I started with an extremely light pencil sketch. Speaking of pencils. I thought I would show the embarrassingly large collection of pencils that I own. During school and into my twenties I would have one active pencil, a red pen and black pen. I would use up the pens and pencils before starting in on the next.

I bought a bag with 10 green pencils a few decades ago and have not used them up yet.

I took a picture after inking in most of the picture. There is one horrible ink smudge at the top of the page:

I decided at this point that the bridge would look more risqué if I shaded in the blanks with pencil. It is not as if I am suffering from a lack of pencils at this point in my life. Quite frankly, I think the bridge looks like it will be good for another year or two. After all what really matters is the integrity of the cables. Yes, having a few holes in the bridge is scary but it is the cables that matter.
