The Australian house which consumes electricity for 200 rubles a year

The architectural bureau Clare Cousin Architects in common with Sosiable Weaver construction company was developed and have built the Australia's first house with "positive carbon balance". So unusual characteristic means that he consumes more carbon in the course of svey operation, than throws out to the environment. For it the house has received the maximum assessment of "10 stars" for energy efficiency and the informal name — "The Ten-star house".


During his creation passive solar strategy thanks to which comfortable temperature indoors is all the year round maintained has been used.

"the 10-star house" is in a coastal zone and is constantly open for visit, including, as the visual aid, for students, future architects and builders of the Sosiable Weaver company.


Creators of the house have considered all aspects concerning strict requirements of ecology, beginning from construction materials and finishing with bed linen. They even had to work with suppliers to reduce package sizes of the delivered materials, and during construction all waste of gypsum cardboard and wood went to processing.

Electric power source of "the Ten-star house" — 5-kW solar panels installed on a roof. In order to avoid losses of energy under overlappings heater was laid, the concrete floors keeping heat are mounted and double-glazed windows are established. At registration of an internal interior exclusively ecologically safe nontoxical materials – paints, a tree, organic cotton were used.


In addition, according to authors of the project, "the Ten-star house" has to inspire its inhabitants to a unification with the nature for what near it the garden where it will be possible to grow up fruit and vegetables for own consumption is located. The house is also equipped with "a green key" which switches-off for the night all household appliances, except the refrigerator.
