Hello digital world of Steemit!
You can call me Amethyst. I am an artist, poet, writer, and musician. I was recently introduced to this site and I am excited to see what becomes of it. This kind of thing is brand new to me, so here's to new adventures!
I am twenty-three years old and am majoring in Environmental Studies at VCU. I have a deep passion for Nature and feel it's my duty to protect Her which is why I changed majors two years ago from Physics. I joined Steemit to share with the world my creative passions.
You see, I've been obsessed with the Arts since I could remember. I broke my dominant (right) arm in kindergarten and instead of going directly to the doctor, I convinced my older sister I was well enough to still go to art class. I wrote my first song on an index card in middle school and stunned my teachers when I had a pile of handwritten papers on my desk that I claimed was a story I had been writing. It runs through my blood and seeps out everywhere; I can't shut it off nor would I ever want to.
My main focus these days has been digital art. I also painted for a few years, even sold some pieces, but I have stuck with digital since it's cleaner and much more mobile. Here are some examples of my art from over the years:
I've even been commissioned to create designs for some starting-up businesses!
It's an exciting time in my life because more people are noticing the talents I've kept locked up for so long. I've grown up with a lot of anxiety and self-esteem issues, but my art is what reminds me of who I am. That I am not the paranoid thoughts in my head. Speaking of paranoia... I've been playing with a free online studio called SoundTrap to make music and created this short piece. I'm thinking of making it longer and possibly adding some lyrics to it.
The majority of my music is acoustic, but I have the intentions of dedicating more time to creating some rock and electronic/industrial sounding music. Here's just one example of my acoustic music:
Over the last seven years, I've also been building a fantasy world called Feirkiln that much of my art and writing is inspired by. It is a world filled with ancient magic and gods, inspired by our world's ancient religions, beliefs, and mythologies.
