Introduction Baobab Blog


The large Malvaceae family to which the Baobabs belong appeared -96 million years ago. At that time on Earth, flowering plants invaded all spaces and already dominate the plant world.

From these flowering plants emerge the first Baobabs -17 million years ago in West Africa, probably in an area similar to the one of this photograph taken in The Gambia along a river.

Welcome to my blog where I talk to you with passion about one of the tallest trees in the dry tropical forest : the charismatic Baobab !

La grande famille des Malvacées à laquelle appartiennent les Baobabs est apparue il y a -96 millions d’années. A cette époque sur Terre, les plantes à fleurs ont envahi tous les espaces et dominent déjà le monde végétal.

De ces plantes à fleurs émergent les premiers Baobabs il y a -17 millions d’années en Afrique de l’Ouest probablement dans une région semblable à celle de cette photographie prise en Gambie le long d’un fleuve.
