It's odd how things happen online sometimes. You spend enough time here and things just keep popping up, like Steemit for example.
I heard of Steemit on a Youtube channel where the presenter suggested to read his posts here as it was easier to keep control of the comments; so I came to have a look. What a wealth of interesting reading on many subjects that I am interested it.
Now, I'm supposed to be introducing myself. My name is Ric aka "bushie", a handle I have used online since 1998 or perhaps even before that. It became hard to get during the time of a certain President's reign in the US, but now seems to be available once again.
I've been online since the early nineties, yes, a lifetime ago in terms of the web. I have been writing websites since 1998 and have been through all the iterations of common practice. I now build all my sites in Joomla as I find it the most secure and flexible for growth. I also enjoy photography which has grown out of taking photos for many sites I develop.
On the personal side, I love riding my Harley Davidson Ultra Classic on long distance tours. The peace of the road and the bush, despite the noise from the exhaust, is soothing to the soul. They say good mental health is just a tank of fuel away and this is important to me as I have bipolar disorder. I am heavily involved in advocacy for people with mental health issues and am also an accredited trainer in Mental Health First Aid. I have also recently developed an interest in cryptocurrency. Probably something to do with enjoying being on the edge... ;-)
It's not always easy to write about or talk about yourself in a personal sense. It's not something that comes naturally to many people. That said, I hope that some of the stories I intend to write here about my life will prove of interest and of benefit to people. Particularly those around the issues of mental health and my own experiences.
Anyway, enough of me for the time being. Now I need to go and read more about the rest of you and get into some writing for this platform.
I look forward to "meeting" people through comments and the other interactive methods provided here.

Hey Ric, welcome to steemit, takes a while to get your head around things here but there are lots of good people to find and connect with. I look forward to reading some of your posts especially with regards to mental health, we need more advocates.
