Hi Erik,
having professional exposure to different blockchains I actually come to the same judgement you do! Community, transaction cost, technology and easy wallets are just so amazing: better than anything out there.
The current steem marketcap is just a joke.
Unfortunately the business (crypto) community out there is just not aware of steem, dapps and games on steem or the steem engine.
Your post sums it up just insanely great!

I agree 99% with your comment except the word unfortunately. I would say that we fortunately have more time to build our stacks before we go mainstream.
I get your point.. but since 12 month important decisions at well funded teams are made on which blockchain to roll out their dapp or business model. Of course most venture are able to pivot to another blockchain but that is more easily said than done.. the conversations I am part of usually only consider ERC20 as option one.. and than that's mainly it... and some who know a bit more are also looking on EOS, dash or Neon.. steem never comes up.. and those other blockchains are IMHO nowhere near as where steem is now...

Welcome to Steem and thanks for the super interesting perspective of moving from Ethereum. I played Cryptokitties early on and thought it was nice but hated the gas fees.
Later I discovered Steem Monsters and saw that you could have a really workable and fun blockchain game without transaction fees.

The constant gas prices on Ethereum is really a disincentive for smaller people. No problem if you are moving large amounts or making large contracts... But for little things.... It adds up!
... But I hope you have your in game economics well balanced, pay to win is not so much fun!

Your description of the game with @andrarchy made me think about the Sega Genesis game Shadowrun, a dystopian future, where you can hack and explore and find items that help you gain strength.
Was that game in anyway an inspiration?

I leave ethermon, my kitties are out there, my aqaurium with plenty of fish is out there too, perhaps those fish are dead now. All is because of transaction fee.

It's good to see more fun games around, apps like that keep the chain alive.
I'm with BuiltTeam, a group of people who create apps specifically for the Steem blockchain, often in cooperation with other projects. One example would be TokenBB, which is a Steem-based forum platform and already used by two other Steem games (Drugwars and Splinterlands).
With Splinterlands, currently the most popular Steem game, we recently struck a deal to sell their merch in our shop: https://shop.buildteam.io/product-category/merch/splinterlands-swag/
In the shop, you can only pay with STEEM/SBD, which encourages people to use it as currency instead of selling for BTC.

I think you won't regret moving over to Steem from Ethereum. Even though Ethereum is much more visible on CMC than Steem, Ethereum's transactions are more expensive and slower than Steem's. Plus, Steem's social aspect is very strong and community is quite active here even though we are still not quite over with bear market. And good community is all that matters for a game like yours. This may be misleading, but this is the original gameplay without social interaction features we are building for Steem. Steem will allow for the MMO features. This will be one way you will stack coins in the game.

Mind you, this is even long before our Ethereum beta, when we were simply testing our trading dynamics. There's a lot more in there, even today - with a big roadmap now underway.

I think its a wise move. Free transactions are much more user friendly for people playing games. I hate having to think about all those tiny transaction fees. Steem is fast too, never had any problems with games on Steem, unlike Ethereum.

I have been saying this for a long time, what gives social networks value are the users who use that network. The STEEM blockchain has the most active user base out of any blockchain!
