my introduction to hive: who is eolianpariah?

dsc_0218e.jpg

the living soul eolianpariah in real life goes by the name Paul Everett. in virtual reality it is more obvious that you can be who you want to be, so i chose to be eolianpariah. in the real world i can still be who i want to be but i was given a name. either way, my name is what i make it to be.
that's where

come in. this is what i strive to fill my life with because that is what gives meaning. not that i am always successful but when i am happiness, joy, fun and peace of mind come naturally without effort.

when i work i am a self-employed carpenter, no boss no employees. that way i control my time. i prefer jobs involving maintaining and restoring old wooden houses of which there are many here where i live on the southern coast of Norway. i put my heart into my work but for the last 20 years i have worked about half the year, then traveled to India for the winter. my loving wife is from India so we built a house on the coast of southern Maharashtra. i have been posting on ecency for a couple of months now with photos predominantly from both these places.
but in 1955 i was born and raised in the USA where most of my family remains. i am a father of two and a grandfather of five. here with two of my wonderful grandkids

living in three completely different countries has its challenges but opens a world of insights and experiences.

so i have come to hive, eager to share and to meet folks from all around the world. years ago when social media was new i was active on facebook but as soon as it became a business i left. i refused to be the capital of somebody else so for years i was not active on any such platforms. about 10 years ago i even put our tv in storage and have never missed it. then late last year i came across hive via some how to earn crypto site and was attracted to the idea of a real decentralized social media. so i decided to join through ecency. where i have been warmly received. in particular the communities of shadow hunters, feathered friends and amazing nature have been most welcoming with outstanding leadership. now those communities were an obvious choice as i have always been interested in nature and light, shadow and reflection. i have long been interested in nature photography but a few years ago we purchased a superzoom lumix camera and that gave us the ability to take photos we were unable to before so both my wife and i have become avid hobby photographers. she more birds, i birds but also more general. the camera also opened a new opportunity for candid portraits. but here's the rub. it is so easy to become obsessed with capturing the moment just right "on film" rather than absorbing and enjoying the moment and letting it pass. am i allowing the moment to become part of who i am or am i merely preserving the moment to collect trophies outside of myself. ah the quandaries we face.

anyway you can find me in the shadow hunters community which has wisely expanded to include reflection hunters.

i have even started to host a brand new contest there called "guess the shadow". here's the link to the ongoing contest

otherwise i will be posting regularly in feathered friends contest and more sporadically in the seaphotography, amazing nature, qurator and sunthursday contests. all of which i find very interesting.

if i get the time i would like to make more in depth posts with photos and text on various subjects, but hive has a problem here. a quality post takes a lot of time and effort to make but that post has a very short period of only 7 days to receive any upvotes and earnings. this may not be an issue for veterans with large followings but an unknown newcomer has little to gain for putting serious effort into quality posts. to me this seems like a recipe for increasingly shallow posts, but i hope i am wrong. meanwhile i look forward to become more acquainted with other communities. i would like to learn more about defi so once i am more familiar with hive in general i shall gradually be delving into leofinance and the myriad of tokens using hive.

something i haven't yet found on hive is a community for local history. here in Norway we had a local history group which arranged amateur theater performances. i played the flute and composed music for the theater but unfortunately the leader died and the whole thing died with him. sadly i got an infection on my little finger which hampered the use of it for playing flute and keyboards. nonetheless i have always been fascinated by the history of people's struggles throughout the ages. somehow struggle is essential to life.

so to end i would like to go back to the beginning

Your top photo is really creative and fun to look at. Your reflection photo is pretty awesome too.

thanks. hope to see you around

we were walking on the beach at sunset when my wife took that top photo. a team of local fishermen were pulling up their long net. as the net was getting closer to land more and more birds we gathering in front of us, black kites, brahminy kites, and seagulls darted down and tried to grab fish from the surface.

Welcome to hive 👍
