Okay, I actually wanted to post this as my initial comment but I opted for my question about that Steemit grouping. Anyway, here is my initial thought as also a newbie on Steemit...
The tips given here will surely help in earning money. But...
What does my voting power tell me about the value that someone earns when I upvote them? I am asking because even if I upvote 100%, their post's pending payout still did not increase even just for 0.01$. That tells me my 100% voting power has no voting value. I actually need to earn tens of thousands of Steem Power before my vote has value. Here is an upvote calculator. So what gives?
Upvoting only those with high reputation sounds like making the rich richer and the poor poorer, and that is alarming to me. Why? Because that is telling me that no one should upvote for me as a newbie who hasn't reach 60 reputation yet. When will I ever reach 60 if everyone is looking for those who already have 60 and above?
When I joined, I noticed that most of my first upvoters are also newbies like me. Even if I have "many" upvotes, the estimated payout does not go up. Why? Because most of my upvoters are newbies who do not have much in their wallet but they cared for my post. That is one thing I learned in this platform: help your fellow newbie even in your own little way and help will come back to you. It is a circle of life.
Here is my 100% upvote regardless of the value. It is what I can share for now. Cheers! 🙂
To your point "2": the real whales will get their money no matter what happens. If a user with like 15 SP upvotes, it does not make the whale richer, but if you comment on popular posts more and more people will know you.
Right. Commenting on popular post is like riding with them. But to keep your vote only for those with 60 and above reputation is a different matter.
I disagree. For people like us what matters most in beginning is getting a vote value for ourselves then riding with people. @macoolette
You have your own opinion. 🙂
yes. That is what i am suggesting all to do.. People ask upvote for upvote. I simply upvote and comment to get their attention. @cryptographix
haha yes
For your point 1 I said a newbie needs steempower the most in initial stage and to earn that one needs to upvote whales to earn a good amount of sp.
for your point 2 If you have something in your pocket only then you can donate. If your vote value is zero so there is no point of donating as you are as equal as they are in terms of power and money.
Also, if you have a good post why would a newbie won't upvote you? I do upvote a newbie with a really good post.
Thanks for your upvote too @macoolette. Hope we have a long-term relationship and grow mutually.
