Hey Steemit, I'm MistaSmitty and I'm new to cryptocurrency & heres my introduction post!

in #introduceyourself8 years ago (edited)

Family drives my every action. There was a time where I didn't want anything to do with my family. I grew up in Sacramento, California, oldest of eight. My mother did everything she could to keep us on track and away from all the bad influences that were out there. So when I graduated high school all I wanted to do was do what I wanted to do and figure what things were like outside of the sheltered world I had endured for 18 long years.

I was an athlete coming at of high school especially football. My grades were not the best so I had to settle and go to Sierra Junior College and play football. Sierra at the time had one of the longest winning streaks in the state. It was a big reason why I chose Sierra to play at. After two years I decided that I had some more growing up to do and decided to join the Army.

I stayed in the army for five years which was the best decision I could have ever made. The reason being is that I had successes and failures and I have grown so much even though I didn't realize it at the time. I left the army with a new car and a family. Once I got out I had a hard time adapting trying to figure out how to be a civilian again. What helped me adjust was my family keeping me grounded and showing me who I was all along. That's how my family became my biggest motivation.

I just wanted to say thanks to @thedashguy for inviting me to this awesome site! I have never really gotten into Bitcoin or anything like that even though hes bothered me about it for a long time, but here I am now! Let's get started!

wellcome

Welcome fellow former soldier. I was in the military for a bit too long myself. You'll find me to be sharp tongued and dull witted.
Nevertheless, I am proud as hell to have you on board.

Don't get me wrong, I like pretty girls as much as the next guy. But I genuinely hope that you make the front page on Steemit. You deserve it and I know exactly what it's like to have "difficulty adjusting".

If I can make a recommendation. Find something you love to do, something you feel passionate about and do it. A close buddy of mine, had a hell of time adjusting because he took fire and developed some serious PTSD. About the only thing he felt good about was playing video games. Found a job as a video game tester a couple of years ago and got his life right back on track!

We lose some many of our own, because like they say if you weren't there, you really don't know. Feel free to hit me up on any of my postings if you need some guidance. I've been out for nearly 15 years and it still feels like yesterday.

Also, don't knock Junior college, some of us couldn't even get in there :)

Thanks man! What Hobby I found to do was flag football!

Your friend @thedashguy is right! Smart move to join crypto now. I always tell my friends too, but a lot stay very sceptic.
Read a lot, learn some more, because the road can still be bumpy sometimes.
Welcome and enjoy.

Thank you for your service for my/our country. Although I disagree with some of the policies the military has taken in terms of conflicts I am happy you made the best of it, and came out physically healthy.

Hello! Nice to meet you here. Let's get started!
Very cool that you're always talking about the family - this is important! you will do it !
I'm sorry for my english , @mistasmitty

Hi @mistasmitty - first of all, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. I'm an Army brat and I'm married to a veteran. I have memories of my father feeling completely lost after 11 years of service and getting back into civilian life. It's a hard transition. I really look forward to hearing more about you and your experiences. From one new steempunk to another, WELCOME!
