Ouachita Trail Section Hike

I've probably been overthinking my introductory post and talked myself out of it for a while now. After an outstanding weekend hike, I decided I'd start sharing and see how it goes.

The Oklahoma section of the Ouachita Trail stretches from Talimena State Park to the Arkansas state line. The path generally follows Talimena Scenic Highway (OK SH 1) through the Ouachita National Forest. Even though it's 4 hours from home, it's my favorite place to spend an early spring weekend in Oklahoma.

This last weekend, fourteen of us spent a couple of days on the Pashubbe and Kiamichi sections practicing for a bigger hike we have planned this summer. I thought I'd share a couple pictures and recommend this hike for anyone looking for a challenging trail hike with great scenery.

This may be the best trail campsite on the Oklahoma side - right along the Kiamichi river. Just east of OT-18 for those that might want to go.
