My Husband And I Are Retired And On A Fixed Income

I came Steemit with just raw talent, I am not a professional artist and I have a stubborn inquisitive nature. All the SP I've earned has been through the community and my posts. I am not an investor and will never become a whale and I am okay with that. I also enjoy learning and putting what I learn to good use. In fact I don't know what I enjoy more, finishing an art piece or learning something new and putting that knowledge to work.

I am A Dolphin

I am here on Steemit to improve my art skills. I am using peer pressure to give me the incentive to create, set deadlines, and finish my project. I can happily say that I have improved my drawing and painting skills. Steemit taught me about crypto-currencies and I have used these skills successfully. I have had to learn coding skills for presenting my art and improve my grammar, which I still struggle with. I do not enjoy writing, I am learning how to enjoy writing thanks to Steemit.

My husband told me about Steemit when the platform went online and I could make some money posting my art instead of posting art on Facebook or other platforms that make billions of dollars off of our content and not sharing their profits with their content creators. I forgot about it for a couple months until he reminded me. I registered and with the money given to me by Steemit I have Potentially earned $11,486.88 at this time. I've seen SP go from .10 cents to $2.00 with all sorts of ups and downs along the way regarding my account worth. At one time my account was worth almost $30,000. I can't get all twisted about the ups and downs of crypto-currency because that is the nature of digital money and getting upset or excited gets in my way of creating.

Trading Cryptocurrency Is Fun

I've traded several thousand dollars of SBD and SP to diversify my crypto-currency portfolio and at this time I have potentially earned several thousand dollars. I have spent around $2000.00 on art supplies (including a new MacBook Pro), presents for birthdays, health supplements, and household appliances (a new water purifier) I wanted but didn't really need but now I could afford.

I have been on social internet platforms since 1997, haveing helped moderate a Buddhist chatboard for a couple years, so I understand social networking and the nature of digital relationships. I have met some awesome people from all over the world through networking with Facebook for Buddhist teachers and programs. I am pretty good at networking when that's all I have to do! But Steemit for me is about creating artwork first, developing a skill-sets is second, networking is third.

All I Want To Do Is Create Art But That Does Not Sell!

Pixabay

I haven't really made any friends, as in we meet face to face or have cozy chats on Discord or Steem chat here on Steemit because I've been too busy creating art.

When I create full time I am the least social person in the world and I have a short attention span for drama. Here on Steemit there are fortunes to be made and when ever this happens there is also lots of drama. I cannot create around drama. So forgive me for not being friendly when you have reached out to me to form a support network. I am working on this issue but it's an uphill battle. I will be visiting Discord Minnow Suite today to start working on my social skills and helping out minnows. I am a very friendly Dolphin most of the time and not stuck-up, I'm just a focused artist!

Hope your week is productive Steemians!

Mr. Wednesday is my favourite one.

@alktoni, he was my favorite too, not only the painting but the research about Odin, which I am still researching Northern European pre Christian religions....

That is a interesting topics for research, my brother is student and is finishing archaeology. He showed my an article of female viking warriors, he was really excited about it.

@reddust,
First I wish you "Happy 1st year Birthday"! I am a lucky guy, that's why I have decided to following you on steemit platform! And I missed "Looper The Frog And Turbo The Snail". Coz I was not here when you draw it!
Amazing work you are doing and thank you very much for sharing with us! A long way to go, so wish a bright future for you!

Cheers~

I wish we had a better way to organize our blog so we don't have to go through a long-long stream of posts....

Thank you @theguruasia, I've really enjoyed our relationship!

@reddust,
Actually that's correct! Now I am following a limited set of people only. In that way I am trying to manage the blog! Never missed your post so far and will be too!
Give a full concern on your artwork! Those are truly amazing!

Cheers~

Happy Steemit Birthday @reddust!!!

It has been such a pleasure to get to enjoy all of your creations, and I am so glad that your experience has been such a positive one!

Also, I totally understand the avoidance of drama thing, I tend to spend whatever positive, creative energy that I possess on content creation, but I am trying a little harder to be a bit more social and encouraging. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the matter!😊

Oh Good, I am not the only one that struggles with the social aspect of this platform, I love your work to @generikat. On my list of things to do is find a little bot to help me keep track of post from my favorite Steemians, and you are one of them!

Awe shucks! Thank you, that love of work sentiment is most definitely reciprocated!

If you do find a little bot of post-tracking awesomeness, I would love to hear about it, for as it stands now I tend to do random marathon upvoting every couple of days on my favorite Steemian's blogs, such as yours, lol!

Please keep your main focus on your own art, cause it's amazing! And 'hey, you never know, maybe in a few years you're a Whale... You've been doing a pretty good job so far ^.^

Thankfully I have the ability to stay focused, I think psychology calls this behavior OCD....hahaha

@droucil, I've really enjoyed you since we met through getting spammed and scammed and trying to figure out how to ignore the friggen bots!

Haha, u should check my recent poems, got 2 of them about those "lovely" guys specifically xD
Some of them can be so creative though =/ It can be hard to tell sometimes whether someone is genuine...

I will do that as soon as meet and greet is done with this post ;-)

You are very modest @reddust . I think you are past the amateur stage. Very fine work you have produced. Nice to share the steemit ocean with you.

I was born with clothes on @manorvillemike, modesty isn't something I try to do, in fact I try to let it go since it isn't a virtue in this world of sales and getting noticed.

¡Happy Birthday!

really you are very much good personel in real life, just i reaveled to read this artical. and you art of work is simly beauty of outstanding, thanks.

Thank you @sheikh27

welcome to you.

You art is so cool. Nice you meet you @reddust

I am so cool....hahahaha <3 thank you @darioulin

A year now woow red, i think we will see as our platform will be growing year with year.

@dim753, I have no clue where Steemit is going in the next year but I do know I am going to work very hard to support the Steemit platform through creating good content and supporting fellow Steemians through helping out minnows. I've really enjoyed our conversations @dim753, you make me laugh, your Mom is really lucky.

Thanks a lot reddust, your words makes me feel blush. Thanks again for all the ideas and moments here.

All superb pieces of art :)

Yay, happy anniversary! You've made such a great body of work and have maintained a consistent presence that has true integrity, congratulations! I'm sure pleased to know you.

Happy Birthday @reddust on this beautiful platform you are amazing :D

@cityslicker it is good to know you too, thank you.

Welcome to Steemit! I'm glad to see you getting involved here and joining in. I hope your experience here is pleasant!

I am also learning a lot per day here on steemit. My typing speed is increasing, my vocab is getting bigger and bigger as I finish reading the posts. It is really a great platform and in return it rewards us for the time we are here.

I found this platform to be one of the most challenging I've experienced because it has been built by nerds....hahaha, it's awesome cause I am a nerd too :p

We all are nerds here.

Congrats!

And sod social skills, just keep painting the good stuff ;-).

I feel guilty for being so one pointed and not focusing on the other aspect of this platform which is networking. I had a blast volunteering at the Scotfest this year. I sat and talked with people all day long...I really like the face to face talk, there is an energy exchange that isn't draining, it is energizing.

Great to know you can succeed as an artist and in crypto social network at the same time. I am slowly working my way up with my steem power. Trying to spend more time on creation too. I work in different mediums. More sculptural work, I am learning from artists like you, how to create more value from the pieces. It would be great to be able to do more personal art and pay part of my bills with money made on platforms like this. Thank you for being good role model.

@mitchhunter, I think sharing the struggles and insights in creating artwork is the hook. Many people don't understand how artist create, they think it's like magic or a gift. So showing the struggle, exhaustion, creative highs and lows makes for an interesting read.

I really enjoy video taping my work and speeding it up, putting it to music, I've had a blast with that kind of sharing.

EDIT: I should show videos of my frustration when I rip up pieces that didn't work...hahahah

Yes. Struggle and creative hights and lows would fill many posts, specially when you are self-taught :) I tried to film my process but had difficulty to stay in frame and became more self concious and productivity fall. The process is messy and ugly, i love to see it from other artists because this is the best way to learn. I promise to improve on this. Planning to move soon and setup my new workplace with more pernament ways to film and photograph the process.

If you haven't noticed emotional messes sell ...hahah <3

Wohooo Congratulatiosn dear :D amazing journey it must have been for you for sure you have inspired many people out here with your work super artist and a great person you are i wish you all the best :D keep steeming on and yeah my favourite is Looper The Frog And Turbo The Snail that is the best one from the rest i could choose super duper details always a great time seeing your post :D thank's for super awesome post's always and wishing you a very happy steemit birthday :)

This winter I will write a children's story about Looper and Turbo, along with several other characters. Thank you for your support and I will also try and support you....Having to pull my head out of my art is painful....I really wish I was better at the social networking, that is where your success will be achieved here on Steemit.

So many amazing artwork you have created i just love them all and a very Huge Shout out on your One year journey of Steemit have an awesome day :)

happy birthday :) @reddust i wish all the best for the future keep amazing us with your art always :)

I will continue to make my focus on my art, it's been my goal since the beginning, but I will also put more effort into supporting my friends. Thank you @cutiepie.

Happy one year anniversary red! :) you must of joined the same day or there abouts as myself, as my 1 year was yesterday. Congrats on your success, you're my favorite artist on steem and i wish you all the best for your continued success. :) love the frog and snail piece loads btw.

Thank you @jonjon1, Happy birthday and I will visit your blog today to as well. Many people loved the series with the frog and the snail and I will continue with the story this winter because of your feedback. Much love and success my friend <3

At least you are honest about not being social. Honestly is always appreciated even if it hurts. I like the dolphin a lot and a very happy birthday to you on Steemit. See you have come so far after going through such rough times. More power to you! :D

@sharoonyasir, I figure it's easier to be honest. Less energy wasted creating a false identity .... life is a struggle for all of us, I share my struggles to let other people know they shouldn't give up, struggles are good if carried correctly and put down when done! I'll do a separate post for my Steemit dolphin, this one is going on my favorite list!

Couldn't agree more. Life is always a struggle and it is the struggles that make victory taste sweeter :)

I think the struggle involved in living a good life makes us or breaks us....victory is dying with a peaceful mind and heart!

You are an amazing artist wish you have apleasant experience here.

Happy Steemit birthday @reddust! How did you know that dolphins are my favorite animal? :)

Don't sell yourself short. I have always enjoyed our social conversations on here. Your heart to support those in third world countries is awesome. You are valuable.

I was able to swim with dolphins when I turned 25 back in 1985, they are very complicated animals that are extremely smart and group oriented. I think that's why humans get along with dolphins so well, we are in some ways very much alike. Because of my Buddhist training I've worked with many cultures throughout the world and grown to love Buddhist cultures I've worked with. Especially their food, traditional arts, and rituals of life. ....sigh, I wish I could travel and meet all my friends, hopefully someday. I worked with Buddhist teachers from India, Tibet, Burma, Mongolia, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, China, and some countries I forget, maybe also Russia...

That would be wonderful world traveling. People of integrity are

wow, that is amazing. happy birthday! :)

oh its your first anniversary here wow one year omg that's a great time lovely to see your post's always keep rocking

Thank you kindly @starving, I hope you have found something to eat here on steemit that is healthy! I will double up on my effort to support those who have supported me.

I know you are a painter.
I salute you.

Thank you @safrijals, you are the one that's going to get me into discord chat minnow suite to help minnows...lololol

lololo.
I really like your laughter.

Humor is good medicine ;-) ....dinner is ready, I would invite you over but you live too far away :P

yes go on

For the nest 30 minutes this invite is active for Discord English and grammar help @safrijals

https://discord.gg/vs9r2M

What does that mean.
I do not understand...???

Hi my friend @safrijals, read this article regarding the Discord Community and minnow support. https://steemit.com/steemit/@natra/pal-minnowsupport-overview-how-to-jump-start-your-steemit-account

also ==> https://steemit.com/palnet/@aggroed/peace-abundance-and-liberty-network-come-join-some-pals

and ==> https://steemit.com/@aggroed .... @aggroed can help you get started. I lend some of my Steemit power to his group on discord.

I've read.
is he willing to help me...??

Yes and he will be able to direct someone who can speak your language. You in turn will be able to help your community.

I do not know the network that well but have helped by donating some of my SP...I'm all tied up in my art. But I will be joining discord Pal and Minnow support with you so we can work together.

I do not exactly understand. how to let us work together.

my strength is not much to help her group.

You will grow your strength in time, this is what minnow support is for. Once you figure out how to join the Discord group I will be there waiting for you.

yes how to do ... ???

here is the discord app https://discordapp.com/download
if you are having problems let me know

I have downloaded this application but can not enter because the network is ugly

Well, happy first anniversary @reddust!

In the few short months I've followed your pages, you've done some beautiful things... and I also think you're a great example of how Steemit can work for artists. Inspiring story... there are so many different "support circles" here on Steemit... maybe there's room for an artist support network, too.

I think there are several support networks for artist as in digital media, painting, drawing, sculpture, but they haven't taken off yet...the pal network with their creative bot and I think there is something called sndbox....I just saw it...but from what I've been able to see from my little window there is no strong organizing force for artist yet. I'm not an organizer (I dunno really, haven't tried that hat on), but trying to put something together kinda boggles my mind.

thx for sharing
