Hey all, I am Richard Romans, new to steem and making introductions. I stumbled upon this site via two topics that interest me- politics and cryptocurrency. After having looked around, it seems like a great community and concept in general. Thus, here I am. Though as a new dad and being employed with a large telecom provider, my time is limited, I will do my best to keep my presence up here. It seems there are plenty of topics and writers to explore!
A bit about myself:
I'm a native Texan in terms of origin, and mostly Irish in terms of herritage. I am married, with a child, and a very squirrely dog- a husky to be precise. For politics, I was entirely for Bernie Sanders, which leaves me in a large minority here in the lonestar state. I love to write and have even spent time as a staff member of an entirely text based game called Aabahran: The Forsaken Lands. I see bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem as in its early childhood with plenty of room to grow. It is my belief that cannabis is one of the greatest medicines in the world and screams out for justice and research, rather than punitive punishment and suppression. Finally, as a last point of interest, I believe justice itself seems lacking in this world, but the universe bends to it and perhaps, just maybe, we as a species can fix that in the years to come.

Hello and welcome to steemit. I am not sure if the crypto people have their own little community or what, I do know there are a lot of them. Politics, if you like that then here is one tag #informationwar, Being as you were a fan of berniesanders, not sure what kind of reception you will receive but they are a rather political group. I myself stop by there on occasion to see what is going on @newsagg does a news gathering tpe post boths sides. ME I belong to a couple of groups, @newbieresteemday their tag #newbieresteemday, and @greetersguild tag #greetersguild. Both groups work to try and help newusers get a leg up, and to answers questions without fear of reprisal. So anyone from or using those tags are safe to ask questions of, If they don't know they will try and point you in the right direction.

I look forward to seeing some of your thoughts in posts. It'll be interesting to see how politics and blockchain technology will become entwined- already governments are looking at running entire regions on a blockchain. It could also help with voting by providing evidence that votes were real and not tampered (one only needs to look at the controversy surrounding the Russian election to see the need for that).
