Androgyny : The Criticism and insecurities.

Hi steemit community, this is Richard Jonathan with only my second post, and as I promised, all topics with no restrictions.
Today I'll be addressing the issue of androgyny, the criticism it has faced, it's effect on the society, and what made it such a hit ?, insecurities ? Or something deeper , this is gonna be a long post, so sit back , learn and develop a new point of this quick developing trend . HERE WE GO......
When d name androgyny often comes into play, it is easily associated with the transgender term that has since rocked the world of recent years and changed life as we know it, one man can in the space of a year be considered a woman legally ( Bruce Jenner now known as Caitlyn Jenner). In Nigeria, the media personality Okuneye Idris Olarenwaju popularly known as bobrisky has caused quite a stir since his thrust into the spotlight, he/she has fans and critics alike and has become quite a figure in Nigeria of recent. In the world of music , the king of Pop, Michael Jackson (am his biggest fan ever) and prince have all been viewed with androgynous traits which they have often been criticized for without proper understanding of their mindset about it. To those who don't know , androgyny is is the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. Usually used to describe characters or persons which have no specific gender, gender ambiguity may also be found in fashion , gender identity sexual identity , or sexual lifestyle .
I have often found myself wondering if the above personalities are unfairly judged and why they will have to occasionally defend their gender or their motives to the public. In this post am going to try and keep an open mind, so as to find quite a favourable conclusion to this Characteristic of theirs.
In the case of bobrisky

And Michael Jackson

Bobrisky : In the picture above, you can see the dynamic change in the persona from a unrecorded period of time, and though he/she is taking alot of bashing for this, I personally chose to look deeper, although I am not a fan of his antics and online drama, I do believe they must be reasons as to why he will go that far to change his whole look, and in the case of Michael Jackson, it is fair to say his case is the most discussed in the history of man, the black musician that turned white, and a lot of hate has been directed towards this icon and his legacy and for what, no proper understanding , I thought a lot to myself as to why one will go through all that trouble to fix what he considered a problem (due to the insults and hating he got from family members ) and I discovered a little self loathing demon called insecurity . It is defined as nervousness that may be triggered by perceiving of oneself to be vulnerable or inferior in some way, or a sense of vulnerability or instability which threatens one's self- image or ego . I seriously believe that insecurity played a part in both men's changing appearance, most people often downplay the strength of insecurity until it hits them, haven't you ever felt bad when you are called "bad breath" , "big nose " and "ugly person" , in that moment you fill vulnerable, sad ,isolated and much more.
It is known in the case of Michael Jackson that his father often taunted him with his looks and his skin disorder ( which you should know is called vitiligo and it causes the Depigmentation of the skin and creates white blotches, so don't you ask how he became white) which made him undergo various Cosmetic surgeries to change what to him was considered ugly, a big role insecurity played right there, such self hate has even led to suicide which I thank God he never considered or we won't have had thriller , he was also described as androgynous in nature due to his high pitched voice, look and much more, but people don't know that androgynous people live and work with us everyday and they suffer what Michael, prince, Luther vandross and so many others had in the past.
It is also known that in the world of music, androgynous traits are considered artistic attributes and androgynous looks called artistic beauty, a belief that was so strong in the 80s and 90s when people were not yet exposed to the world of androgyny, in this modern day society, artistic beauty is often linked with tattoos.
Transgenders have taken a lot of hit for their looks but simply because they have androgynous traits of the other sex doesn't mean that they are not true to their created gender, it is should be viewed instead as a beautiful work Of God , and if such people fill compelled to switch to another gender that they fill most comfortable with, the public should not scorn or criticize them them but be more understanding as it is their choice, some people insult this people when they Display such traits , making them insecure and going on a spiral of cosmetic Madness, that aside I also believe that it should not be taken to far, as I believe bobrisky is doing that right now and Michael did take his a little bit overboard for reasons known to only him, a mild expression like David Bowie and prince does the trick, showing us that there is no limit and barrier to God's creation, we are all beautiful the way we were created and should not allow anyone or anything tell us different, as in the case of Michael Jackson and prince, you can become great irrespective of your gender dilemma and you actually need to prove it the critics that and to people in that situation. I believe that by doing that, you gain beauty and excellence to not only the public but to yourself. Thank you for reading, please remember to vote and stick around for another post 😉 , and remember we are all beautiful .❤
