It's not cryptocurrency, blockchain is what brought me here

in #introduceyourself7 years ago

Hello Steemians, I'm so excited to join a social network built on distributed ledger technology. I've been working with private (aka enterprise, permissioned) blockchain such as Hyperledger Fabric for more than a year. Like most of us here, I too am a proponent of free, open and censorship-resistant networks and payment methods. And we have technologies to operate in a trustless environment without the need of a so called trusted third party. Bitcoin proved more efficient than any traditional currency in financial transaction across globe, be it a few bucks or a million dollar transaction. Having some exposure to Economics, I find it extraordinary how marketplaces such as Silk Road and Alpha Bay operated without anyone knowing anyone else's identity. Well, we then needed a mechanism to automatically transfer money to a seller once his shipped product is delivered to the buyer. Ethereum allows execution of smart contracts (agreement written into lines of code) in counter-party transactions. Voilà!

So why are we still using banks, etc.? Unfortunately, government and businesses want to know the participants in (business) networks/transactions. That's where permissioned blockchain comes into play. Blockchain is the greatest invention after the Internet itself and it will disrupt almost every industry, finance being the top. Financial institutions are now embracing blockchain, but in their own, permissioned way.

Steemit revolutionises media industry by rewarding content creators and curators as opposed to a company. I joined Steemit to experiment with the platform, to interact with the community and most important, writing about blockchain on a platform built on it.

I primarily work with Fabric and Corda. Sometimes the documentation doesn't make sense. Here I plan to write about concepts that I found problematic and how I learned them. It's a nicer way to keep notes so I can refer back in future.

Developing blockchain networks requires a host of skills, e.g., cryptography , consensus , containerisation (Docker), platform specific SDK, etc. I'm trying to come up with a series on permissioned blockchain. I'd very much appreciate if you guys tell me what type of contents would be suitable here.
