Tom Doulton is the pen-name of an author who has previously written on the Steemit platform under a different alias. He has also written under his real name and was often subject to censorship due to controversial topics and the locations where he resided, he faced many risks when publishing articles.
He may not been the most dedicated crypto enthusiast or Steemit blogger in the past; uncontrolled rampant plagiarism, what seemed to be a global war on crypto and having a normal job to do in real life diminished his interest in the platform somewhat. Steemit also went downhill thanks to its internal politics which were of little importance to him, perhaps that is until it's inevitable end brought about its successor.
Hive appears to represent the original concept of a social network that rewards users for its content; if anything like what it has effectively replaced, it will continue to value free speech far more than any of the mainstream social media networks.
