My name is Marcus Braeburn and this is my first post on Hive. Not that I am a stranger to the concept. And as you can see from all my Steemit posts listed below this one on my blog, it would foolish to pretend otherwise. I was a regular contributor over on Steemit where I mostly posted articles on gambling and sport and other such frivolous pastimes.
I stopped posting for many reasons but mostly at that time I just ran out of things to say. Writing about football seemed pointless in a world with so many other more important things to write about. Then the pandemic happened and I entered a period of creative and social atrophy from which I am just now beginning to emerge.
Now though, I am ready to start putting a little piece of myself back out into the ether. I would have made this decision sooner but the problem of what to write, what to post, what to do, delayed me. I still have little to contribute on the world's serious issues that isn’t already being said more eloquently by people who are more educated and more committed than me.
For that reason, I am going to use Hive as a purely creative outlet. A place where I can expose a little of what I do to stop myself from going completely mental. Creating, as you probably know if you are reading this, is hard and the process is a minefield of self-doubt and existential horror…
‘Why am I doing this? What is the point? Does anybody care?’
...so having somewhere to test a few little ideas with like-minded people is a gift I have ignored for too long.
My posts on here will mostly concern my ongoing efforts to write a book, something that I have been trying to do for the past twenty years and something I feel closer to achieving now than ever before. I have written many first drafts but none have made it past that awkward stage. This is where I am at with my current project so I am hoping that talking about the process will give me motivation and keep me moving in the write direction. Hahaha.
My other main thread will be to talk about and promote a little design business I have recently started with my sister. Broadly speaking I am responsible for the designs while she takes care of the marketing and promotion, however, I figured this was not a bad place to post up my designs and get some opinions, feedback, and maybe even lock in a few sales. ABC, as the man said.
You can see our first design modeled by me in the photograph above. This one is nothing too arty, just a play on the word HODL and the Lidl logo. I am waiting for the cease and desist notice to drop through the door but there has been nothing yet. This design comes in five different styles and hey, it would make a great gift for any BTC or supermarket obsessed friends you might have :-)
