It's actually a while now since I joined the Hive Network.. I really have no idea how or what I want to make out of this, but I guess an introduction is a good place as any to start. Hopefully this can be the start of many blogs and ideas to come. I do hope you be kind in the comments, constructive criticism will be greatly appreciated as well.
With that out of the way let's begin..
About Me
Hi, I'm Marcus, I was born in Cagayan de Oro City, but was raised in the city of San Pedro, in the province of Laguna, here in the Philippines. I have been living there ever since.
At first glance you can already tell a few things;
- I eat a lot of Food 🍴😋..
- I look like a Nerd and probably Smart 🤓😅..
- Most probably a Gamer 🎮..
- Is very very very Handsome 😎.. (According to my Mother.. 😅)
Well, that pic was way back 2018, and yes, all 4 of those assumptions still fit the bill..
Although, a lot has happened in those 3 years.. I'm now Married to my Best Friend 💍, we have a beautiful and loving Daughter 👨👩👧, we're actually in the process of slowly but surely building up for our future home, and we're loving what we're doing to achieve such a dream. Also, I forgot to mention that I also kinda shaved off that beautiful head of hair 👨🦲..
So why blog? Just to brag? Heavens no..
I've always aspired to become a content creator.. Maybe it's the lack of support (because it's not a stable income..) or maybe being a content creator is something that needs a lot of time (building an audience, making sure what you're putting out there is indeed quality content.. 😓) which was something I didn't had at the time so why I never got a chance to delve into it.
But, with the things that have been happening in the world, we're being given the time to do such. So this might be the best opportunity to give myself the chance to chase that old frustration. But the next question comes to mind..
What kind of Content Creator do I wanna be?
I look back to a simpler time, to the days that made me aspire to become a content creator in the first place. Around 2010, I was still in High School but a year from now I'll be off to College, and at that time we're slowly being introduced to faster internet connectivity with speeds up to a whopping 3Mbps!!! Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter we're all the rage.
I was a gamer back then, but not to the effect that I am now.. Gaming PCs and Consoles we're still a luxury so I did what I have to do at the time and just settle with what's there.. a ton of non-graphically intensive browser games, and a jail-broken PSP with downloads you get from ye olde piratebay.org.. 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
The other games that I wanted to play but couldn't, I just watch on YouTube. At this point in time, I came across a small-time youtuber by the name of PewDiePie, back then his content was horror games and a handful of fails in games that never failed to make me laugh, then a little while in 2011-2013 I came across groups of youtubers like Smosh Games, and VanossGaming and Friends, then other good solo content creators like DKDiamantes, and Markiplier just to name a few. These youtubers were playing the latest games of the time, most notably Grand Theft Auto Online.. they we're doing funny skits and having fun with glitches in the game, all the while entertaining us viewers.
These kinds of youtubers sparked something in me.. a want.. wanting to create an impact in someone else's life the way they affected me. Without them I would probably succumbed to depression. They were an escape from the pressures that kept piling on, I got to know their personalities bit by bit and sometimes when I watch them, the jokes, the emotions, the humor of it all.. I feel that I can relate and be friends with them more in the 15 minutes or so of their videos than the hours I spend in school with my classmates.
Which got me thinking that I should form a gaming group and we can do the same stupid fun they did, record it, and put it on YouTube for all the world to see.. and hopefully make someone's day a little bit better. First things first I need a gaming group.. (and the money to play the games I wanted 😅)
It was 2016 or so that I met Makarov (his IGN) during a game of PayDay 2 on PC (playing this on 2016 because games from 2013 by that time are cheap and all DLCs are already on it), we we're so good at the game, we kinda kept playing together, chatting and having fun. He then introduced me to CaptSly, his other friend. The three of us started to play other games together, later we found out that were all Filipino and basically living within the same area. So we set up a get-together at Sly's place, I pitched my ideas for us to record our gameplay and post it, everyone agreed, and soon Me, Makarov, and Sly re-founded their old group FloodTeam6 or FT6 for short. Today, It was not just us three anymore in FT6. We've grown a bit from three to near 30s and perhaps a core group of 11.. (we're not counting 😅.. the more the merrier!)
That was a long detour am I right? I'll summarize the rest from here. FT6 is still playing games together, but we we're not that successful in the content side of things. We tried streaming and recording, together and individually, in the end we're not clicking with the audience.
So here's my dilemma.. I don't now how will I pursue content creation this time around..
Do I try again on where it didn't work out? or try something new?
With that being painfully said.. I've decided to make a blog aptly named; The Way of the Battered Husband
So why "The Way of the Battered Husband"?
To those that don't follow Anime Culture or just wasn't keen to spot this Gem of a Manga turned Anime; It's a series of comedic short episodes following Tatsu, a former Yakuza boss who disappeared from the Yakuza scene without a trace. We see Tatsu being put in everyday scenarios applying all that he has learned from being part of the Yakuza. These episodes will have us laughing, hungry, or surprised on how he manages to do something so mundane spectacularly.
My take on this blog will have me share with you my experiences, some old and some new, I'll give my tidbits of information to provide wisdom and knowledge to those that might be experiencing the same now or in the future..
So, where's the battered husband part? There are times that my Wife will not like what I do.. and when that happens, I end up with fates worse than death. (Kidding! I Love My Wife So Much.. She doesn't do that I swear.. 😅 ) To be real, being a dad is tough, you're basically being battered in all directions. So yeah at the end of the day, I'll often feel battered and bruised, tired and mindless..
But it's all worth it.. just seeing them happy.. makes me happy too..
