My Spanish Language Journey

in #introduction2 months ago (edited)

Hi! I'm Yoodro.

For the past decade (actually more than 10 years now), I've been learning Spanish via the Duolingo app.

I still don't know how to speak Spanish after all that time but to my defense, I was not learning for 10 years. It was on and off, mostly off, due to life being a thing just doing life things to me.

The progress in my previous account was significant but I was sure I forgot the basics and will have problems if I just continue with my account.

So about two months ago, I decided to pick it up again.

I've created a new account, signed up for the Super Plan, and started from scratch. I'm now on a 50-day streak and I have finished #1 on all leagues above silver.

Currently top on the Obsidian league. This is gonna be hard since right off the bat some guy's XP shot up to more than 1000, and it's Monday morning.

But I managed to finish the day with 2k XP!

Thank you! I kinda got the gist of that. When I watch something on YouTube or any movies that have Spanish dialog, it makes me happy that I understand a little bit and sometimes understand the idea without looking at the subtitles. It also helps that I know 3 PH languages that all use Spanish loan words.

Cool, i'm glad you are enjoying our language! You will learn a little day by day! Congratulations 👏🎉

Love that you're back on the Spanish grind with a 50-day streak — that's serious commitment, especially jumping straight into Obsidian league! The fact that you're pushing 2k XP days while competing against people with 1000+ shows you're actually retaining way more than you think from those 10+ years, even if it felt scattered.

Since you're building momentum with consistent daily learning, hivestats.io could be useful for tracking your own Hive activity streaks and growth over time — it's a nice way to visualize progress like you're doing with Duolingo. Are you planning to actually speak Spanish with someone once you hit a certain milestone, or is the Duolingo streak itself the main goal right now?
