yeah, the whole witness thing is a looooot of work, and realistically, it makes more sense to build your account before making a bid for witness. However, I don't believe it's true that we have too many witnesses. I think we have too many underpaid witnesses. Diversification of talents and nodes across the globe is important to consider.
