SPinvest is a tokenized investment fund/club for all users of social blockchains. Everyone is welcome! The innovation on Hive keeps flowing. Not only is @spinvest growing as well as heading up a new project, @lbi-token, there appears to be some new funds that are seeking to offer people in this ecosystem more options.
Index funds are a great way to build wealth over time. They basically are a basket of assets, compiled in a way to mirror some market. For example, they are very popular in the world of stocks. Many prefer to buy an S&P Index fund which essentially amounts to "buying the market". What this does is it allows one to gain the exposure from long-term market growth without having to put in the time to research individual stocks.
It also removes the possibility of getting caught in a stock that suffers a "death blow". Examples of this could be industry disruption, accounting scandals, or gross mismanagement.
An index fund helps one avoid this entirely.
Now we have a token appearing that is called INDEX.

That said, this is a fund that is accumulating a basket of Hive-Engine/Leodex tokens similar to what the organizations do when they offer out a stock index fund.
We are happy to state that the SPI token is part of the basket of tokens they are accumulating.
It looks like they are focusing upon 10 different token. These are some of the more well known ones such as LEO as well as BLURT, BRO, and ARCHON.
Here we see another layer being added to the ecosystem. From a financial perspective, index funds are a popular way to invest.
Having SPI be a part of this means that we can see more demand for the token. As the project keeps growing in value, surpassing the targeted 20% per year, this will help to grow the value of the INDEX token.

I missed investing in SPI in early stages because I wasn't fully aware of how Hive/ Steem works .
Now I don't want to do the same mistake with LBI.
It's cool that there are coming up so many good looking projects! Will get some LBI and already have some SPI ;)

Yeah SPI was a no brainer to be included in INDEX...Always a top performer and something that helps everyone on Hive Engine grow.
We plan on adding more tokens over time, so it's a true index of the tokens on Hive Engine. But needed 10 to give it a kick start :)
It is a great idea. Just bought a 100 INDEX to get started.
Looking forward to seeing how this performs. It makes total sense since it is a well traveled approach to investing.

At the end of the day this is all just locking up more HIVE.
Well not really HIVE, at least not directly. That is not one of the tokens they are backing the token with.
They are focusing upon H-E tokens to fill their basket with.

Whatever liquid HiveP I have , I bought 19 Index from it.
I hold LEO, DEC, SIM , PAL , BEE (Miners) and ARCHON, BLURT. (from INDEX list)
Never thought of investing in fund so never bought SPI and BRO, but will be in with LBI and hope that LBI will also become part of INDEX.
Apart from it, I hold NEOXAG ,CTP,CTSB and CTPM, SPT and SPORTS.

Just a guess but I am going to out on a limb and say it will be added at some point.
We are going to have a huge response I believe which means we will have some activity in the first month.
That will be something that INDEX will want in on.
I purchased some INDEX tokens today also. Couldn't resist.

Happy to see an index fund on Hive Engine, I'm just surprised it has taken this long for one to materialize! In the past I played around with a virtual stock exchange based in Second Life and most of the successful "stocks" were index type funds :)
