I got some tiny amount for having 500 Hive there. Probably someone with a million got the bulk of it.
The rules of the airdrop capped distribution at 10,000 HIVE. But you're right that without a cap a user could have claimed a larger portion by depositing a larger amount.

The developers reviewed your account and see that you received airdrops of IONSX for the first airdrop to HIVE holders and IONSXL for the second airdrop. The "L" stands for "Locked," since it's locked for seven days. You'll receive daily ION payouts just for holding IONSXL, even while it's locked. You can trade it a week after you receive it.
To see your IONSXL balance, select "Assets" under the "Wallets" tab. Click the IONSXL button to filter for only those transactions.
