I want Israel's representatives abroad to speak Hebrew.
Even Bib should speak more Hebrew.
My Israeli born wife speaks excellent but not mother tongue English after living with me in the UK for years. She likes it when Israelis abroad representing the country speak English well and cringes when we send Israelis with broken English out to speak.
I used to feel the same.
Now I want Israel's representatives abroad to speak Hebrew. Even Bib should speak more Hebrew.
Our presentation at the kangaroo court in the Hague should have been in Hebrew. They're going to hang us anyway, make them listen to Hebrew. At the UN General Assembly make them listen to Hebrew.
Our revived and renewed ancient tongue is our indigenous right. The rest of the world can struggle with translations. It would probably help if speeches were officially translated and those translations presented to the media, but Israel's language is Hebrew (or even Arabic in some settings where that would be appropriate).
Just because we have many native English (and Russian and many other) language speakers living here, doesn't mean they're always the best people for ever job.
This isn't about day in day out spokespeople: for sure we need great native language speakers representing us to the media but even this is a double edged sword!
We get too much attention already most of it negative: perhaps this is because we are too easy to cover in the English speaking press!

Hebrew been one of the first language, I am still surprised why a lot of people find it difficult to communicate in Hebrew most especially in Isreal
Nice idea for all born Israelites but using Hebrew language at the UN wouldn't help since the country have Ambassadors who can communicate in a broader language English to be precise. I trust Israel is a great nation but condescending to such measure will send a negative signal to the rest of the world.
I dont think so… the president of Brazil doesnt speak english and everytime he goes to the un and he talks in portuguese… ok no one gives a shit for him there anyways lol

Well, you've said it's a double edged sword. Every native language speaker wants their language to be well represented to the letter, but who knows, maybe being misrepresented isn't as terrible, but then, no matter, everyone wants their indigenous language to still have that deep-rooted uniqueness, especially if it's being covered by someone foreign. Sometimes it feels good.
Language that started as a native language like Hebrew should be held with Hugh importance and not that disregarded as people will think it should be. In fact I believe not only limited to Israelite, other places should learn the language with utmost importance
I feel it won’t be nice to embrace other people’s language and not embrace ours so the idea of more people speaking Hebrew is really cool

More and more world leader are defaulting to English instead of their country's common language. some counties like mine speak English as a first language but we have a very distinct accent.
