Cosa è un Timelapse e come lo si ottiene?
La fotografia Timelapse è una tecnica cinematografica nella quale la frequenza di cattura di ogni fotogramma è molto inferiore a quella di riproduzione. Il tutto risulta in un video in cui il tempo scorre più velocemente del normale e dà la sensazione di essere accelerato. Il tipo di Timelapse più gettonato è la transizione giorno-notte ma lo si può vedere anche nella sbocciatura di un fiore o la nascita di una farfalla e mille altri modi.
Ci sono diverse tecniche per ottenere un fantastico video Timelapse che scaturiscono in altri generi di video accelerati (vedasi l'Hyperlapse) ma, a grandi linee, il fotografo pone la sua fotocamera in un punto, che può essere un treppiedi, uno slider, o semplicemente su di un piano, che deve essere gioco-forza stabile e fermo, pena la malriuscita del lungo lavoro. Lungo è di certo il lavoro della fotocamera che chiude l'otturatore in base all'intervallo scelto dal fotografo e tanta deve essere la pazienza di quest'ultimo per attendere il completamento della ripresa.
Il Timelapse con lo smartphone
Per ottenere un buon risultato i fotografi si affidano, a giusta causa, a fotocamere di alta qualità ed a strumenti in grado di creare, come già detto, tecniche diverse (slider). In seguito c'è il momento della post-produzione dove il progetto prende forma e le foto scattate vanno unite per creare l'illusione di un unico video.
E se volessimo farlo con il nostro smartphone? Si può fare ed i più moderni dispositivi già implementano nel loro software le modalità Timelapse. Ma oggi voglio parlarvi di un'applicazione per Android che permette di spingersi un po' oltre le impostazioni di default offerte dai produttori: Framelapse.
Framelapse offre di più nella versione Pro
La versione di Framelapse che sento di consigliare è quella Pro, che quindi prevede un costo, ma il gioco vale la candela. Oltre alla alla messa a fuoco e l'esposizione che si può bloccare, la versione Pro permette, a differenza di quella Lite, di regolare a proprio piacimento il tempo di scatto e l'intervallo tra una foto ed un'altra. Ma la funzione più importante, a parer mio, è quella dell'auto-spegnimento del display del proprio device che mitiga il problema dell'enorme dispendio di energia che quest'app richiede. Infatti, se deciderete di girare un Timelapse, mettete in conto di dover ricaricare il vostro smartphone onde evitare di rimanere senza carica di batteria residua e state attenti al fatto che se vi si spegne nel bel mezzo della ripresa avrete perso tutto il lavoro.
Il mio esempio di video
Ho realizzato questo video utilizzando il mio Galaxy S5, poggiato al davanzale della mia finestra nell'arco di una settimana. Da notare il fatto che le condizioni meteorologiche sono via via migliorate restituendo un effetto assolutamente non voluto. [Link in fondo all'articolo]

What is a Timelapse and how do you get it?
Timelapse photography is a cinematographic technique in which the capture frequency of each frame is much lower than that of reproduction. This results in a video in which time passes faster than normal and gives the feeling of being accelerated. The most popular Timelapse type is the day-to-night transition, but it can also be seen in the blossoming of a flower or butterfly's birth and a thousand other ways.
There are several techniques to get a fantastic Timelapse video that results in other kinds of accelerated video (see Hyperlapse) but, broadly speaking, the photographer places his camera in one spot, which can be a tripod, a slider, or simply on a level, which must be stable and firm, or face the prospect to lose your work. Long is certainly the camera job that closes the shutter according to the interval chosen by the photographer and so much must be the patience of the latter to wait for the completion of the shot.
Timelapse with smartphone
To get a good result, photographers rely on high-quality cameras and tools that can create, as already mentioned, different techniques (sliders). Then there is the post-production moment where the project takes shape and the photos taken must be combined to create the illusion of a single video.
If did we want to do it with a smartphone? It can be done and the most modern devices already implement Timelapse modes in their software. But today I want to talk to you about an Android application that allows you to go a little further than the default settings offered by the manufacturers: Framelapse.
Framelapse offers more in Pro version
Framelapse version I feel to recommend to you is that Pro, which therefore provides a cost, but it's worth. In addition to focus and exposure that can be blocked, Pro version allows to adjust the shutter speed and the interval between one photo and another at will, unlike Lite one. But the most important function, in my opinion, is the auto-switching off of the your device's display that mitigates the problem of the huge expenditure of energy that this app requires. In fact, if you decide to take a Timelapse, consider recharging your smartphone to avoid remaining without battery charge and be careful that if the phone turns off in the middle of the shot you will lost all your work.
My video example
I made this video using my Galaxy S5, placing it on the sill of my window in a week. Note weather conditions are gradually improved giving an absolutely unwanted effect.
Interessante questa modalità, mi ha sempre ispirato, ma come dici giustamente richiede molto tempo e pazienza. Inoltre con la mia Sony per avere questa modalità devi acquistare l'applicazione, potevano darla gratis con quello che si paga l'attrezzo direi.
Sì ho sentito. E' una cosa che metterò nella lista quando deciderò quale fotocamera scegliere. Mi piace tanto realizzare Timelapse e forse questa limitazione delle Sony (marchio a cui sono più interessato) passerà in secondo piano.
