E sono all'undicesima sirena! Anche questa volta mi sono ispirata ad una lumaca di mare, la Elysia Chlorotica. La particolarità di questo mollusco è che ha la forma di una foglia e riesce a sopravvivere grazie alla fotosintesi clorofilliana come le piante.
And I'm at the eleventh mermaid! This time I took inspiration again from a sea slug, the Elysia Chlorothica (best known as eastern emerald elysia). The peculiarity of this mollusc is its leaf shape and it's able to live thanks to photosynthesis like a plant.
I colori sono venuti più opachi di quello che desideravo. Usando solo 3 colori (nero, seppia e un verde degli acquerelli liquidi ecoline) non posso sbizzarrirmi nel ricreare tutti i colori dell'animale originale.
Sono partita pitturando le ombre con l'inchiostro nero diluito. Il giallo nei bordi della lumaca è stato reso con il seppia e da qui il disegno ha iniziato ad avere colori meno brillanti rispetto alla foto della Elysia Chlorotica che ho usato come riferimento. Nemmeno aggiungendo il verde sono riuscita ad ottenere dei colori più brillanti.
Colors came duller than I wanted. Using only 3 colors (black, sepia and a green from the liquid watercolors ecoline) I can't have fun in copying all the shades in the original animal.
I started painting the shadows with black ink. The yellow in the edges was colored using the sepia ink and since then the illustration looked less brillant than the photo I was looking as a reference for the Elysia Chlorotica. Neither with the green I was able to get a bright result.
Ora sono indecisa su cosa disegnare. Sono tentata se disegnare una manta o un gambero, ma penso punterò su qualcosa di meno complesso nella prossima illustrazione.
Now I'm not sure about my next drawing. I'm trilled to draw a stingray ora a shrimp, but I think I will do something less complex for next illustration.

Very interesting mermaid, I kinda love the design of her fish part and the detailing is beautiful and intricate <3 The colours came out nice, also, even if you thought they came out a bit dull.... I like it ! :>
Mi stupisci sempre! Non conoscevo affatto questa splendida lumaca di mare, davvero molto particolare. Il disegno ti è riuscito bene, nonostante non sia brillante come desideravi tu. Il mare è ricco di ogni genere di creature, vedrai che troverai da cosa trarre ispirazione.
