Per recuperare un giorno della mermay challenge che avevo saltato, il 7 maggio ho realizzato questa illustrazione con due gemelli koi.
Ho copiato la posa da una pubblicità vista su facebook, trasformando le gambe in code di pesce. Ho anche guardato varie foto di koi per avere un'idea di come sono posizionate le macchie e la forma delle pinne.
Sono partita da uno sketch con la matita arancione, quando sono stata soddisfatta della composizione ho ripassato a china.
Since I wasn't able to draw one day of the mermay challenge, on may 7th I did an illustrations featuring 2 koi twins.
I used an advert I saw on facebook as a reference for the pose, changing legs into a fish tail. I looked koi photos too to have an idea about the spots placement and the fins form.
I started from a sketch with an orange pencil, then when I was satisfied with the composition I did the lineart with ink pens.
Colorare questa illustrazione mi ha dato filo da torcere perché il colore che ho usato per le macchie rossicce non si asciugava subito ed è colato fuori dai bordi. Mi ha anche macchiato alcune parti del foglio.
Tutto sommato sono contena del risultato.
Coloring this illustration gave me a hard time, the watercolor I used for the reddish spots didn't dry fast and it smudged out of the borders. It spoiled also the paper in some parts.
But after all I'm happy on how it looks.
Amazing illustration and photo! I like this challenge, but I do not have time to paint for it(
