Full immersion in nature. Two beautiful places in Gargano close to where I live.

The Monte Saraceno (Mons Matinus di Orazio) is a mountain overlooking the Adriatic Sea and is located in the municipality of Mattinata in the province of Foggia, its height varies between 230 and 260 meters and an area of 223 hectares, natural pine forests of Pino d'Aleppo are found, while the main fauna is composed of the many bird breeds that periodically nest in this area, therefore this mountain has been inserted as a site of community importance pSIC.
On the mountain there is an important daunium site of the ninth century BC.

In the IV century AD the mountain was still known as Monte Dodoneo, consecrated to the pagan cult of Jupiter. According to an ancient tradition, after the appearance of the Archangel Michael in the cave of Monte Sant'Angelo, the bishop and the prelates of the area went to Mount Dodoneo, then seat of the pagan cult of Jupiter and destroyed the simulacra by dedicating the temple to the SS .Trinity. Since then the mountain assumed the denomination of Sacro. Then the Abbey of Monte Sacro was the seat of the Benedictine monastery from the 6th to the 13th century AD. Thanks to the impulse of the abbot and man of letters Gregorio, a vast library was established, which contributed to making the abbey one of the most important cultural centers of medieval Puglia.
