Dreaming Of Wagyu A4 & A5 Beef

in #japan3 years ago (edited)

One of the worst parts about being back in the states, besides being apart from my family, is the food. You really don't know how low quality food is in the US until you go to a civilized country like Japan! I can't even go eat out at sushi in California right now!!

My wife and I like to go out to a place called Jiromaru in Tokyo for A4 & A5 beef. However, for New Year's dinner we decided to eat in with the kids. We honestly didn't know what we were going to have for dinner until we went to Costco on 12/30. There we found heaven.

Since we had to prepare for the whole family we decided to go with the pre-sliced A4 pack. A pretty good deal at $50 for 25 slices. At Jiromaru 1 of those slices will run you $3.

If you've never had A4 or A5 wagyu it's really hard to do justice when describing it. The meat, depending on the cut(part), literally melts in your mouth. Each bite is filled with flavor and the texture is soft and not chewy. You will always remember the first time you eat it because it is like no other beef you've ever had.

Of course we had a lot more food for our New Year's dinner, like bacon wrapped, cheese filled hot dogs too!

We washed it down with lots of beer and shochu and laughed our asses off watching Downtown's 24 No Laugh special.

In this clip a famous actor playing head security for the night makes fun of the fact one of the comedians, Kose, who is balding. He follows by erotically rubbing Matsumoto's pecks.

I can't wait to go home, go back to Costco and pick up some A4 beef!

Thanks for reading!

Looks heavenly is an understatement.

It really is. I know you can find some in the states, but it's very common to get A4 even in a large supermarket in Japan. It's not cheap, but well worth the price a few times a month.

I should try that one of those times.
