Are you learning japanese? That's pretty cool, I started it up on duolingo but failed to follow up the next day :D
Nice to see you still around! Any pics of the puppies?

Heh, same here with Duolingo... I’ve installed it more times than I’ve actually used it. I tend to dive in way too deep, burn out, and then need a long recharge before trying again.
It’s probably a scheduling issue. I’ve never quite mastered the art of allocating time conservatively — I just get blown around by the winds of motivation.
This time I’m trying something more sustainable. Tiny pieces. No syllabus. Just scribbles, thoughts, and scrolls. I handwrite little phrases that pop into my head (with a bit of AI help) and read them aloud. No pressure, no grammar drills — just vibes. I’m thinking of it as a hobby. (Just saw the video a few days ago, so… confirmation bias.)
As for the puppies... well, turns out my first dog @Ninnu, has had a novelty blog on Hive for a while now. Most of the pup-related updates end up there, with cameos from our other dogs as well.
Awwws the puppies, so cute! Make sure to try post into the Hive Pets community for potential more visibility/curation!
and yeah, at this age I don't think I'd manage to learn a new language any longer, especially not one so different from the ones I know. I'd love to understand Japanese as I enjoy watching Anime and being able to do so while multitasking (not having to read the subtitles) would be amazing rather than having to rely on bad dubbed versions. :D
I'm with you there — Japanese is wildly different from the usual suspects, and the mental acrobatics involved in learning it are almost too much sometimes. But I’m honestly not convinced age is the blocker people think it is. It might raise the bar a bit, sure — but it doesn’t make the process any less rewarding or fun.
That’s at least part of why I keep trying. Not to “master” it, but to get those occasional aha-moments when something suddenly makes sense. Even recognising a phrase in an anime without checking the subtitles feels like a small miracle.
And thanks for the tip! I’ll try posting some puppy content in the Hive Pets community too. They might enjoy the chaos.
