My Day In Music

in #jazz6 years ago

So, I've been on a Pharaoh Sanders/Leon Thomas/Alice Coltrane (A.C. Turiyasangitananda) binge all day, carrying through when my jam should have started, since no one showed up.

(okay, some of this is standards, but wonderful, because it's Leon in amazing form)
(because it's EXACTLY right)
along with, what else?

Well, I went there, so I might as well...

and about 12 other albums. I should be trying to figure out why I can't get IPFS functioning on ANY of the machines inhouse to post to dsound, dtube, and dlive, uploads keep failing and tell me to check
my IPFS settings- I don't know what to do beyond follow the instructions...

I'll accept spiritual encouragement from any source I can perceive...and if I squint hard and hold my mouth right, I'll pretty much always wind up at

-after all, it's how I want to start my day, with this reverberating in my head.
This is a superb remastering and good file conversion, only vinyl snobs would quibble about material distortions when its spiritual dimension is perfectly audible and evident.
For all the spiritual prog-jazz exposure, I have to thank Dennis McCunney, but I'd heard the Govinda prayer on WMMR long before we met at that fateful Miles Davis concert at the old Electric Factory.

Ok so I am gonna make it short !
I was a part of a school called the Music Academy International in Nancy, France.

We had the chance to have Dean Bowman (The singer of Screaming Headless Torsoes) coming for a week and do a scat singing masterclass.

Richard Paul Morellini aka MOMO, one of the director of the school points out that Dean Bowman sings like Leon Thomas.
He gave me that day "The Creator has a Masterplan" to listen to , with Pharaoah Sanders, and I was blown away by the music, but more importantly by the quality of the scat of Leon Thomas.

Dean Bowman became a friend of mine, and a mentor, we actually worked on a song together called "My Soul is a drug" and smoked so much weed that day :P, the song never got released though haha.

Leon Thomas had a major influence in my scat. When I met Al Jarreau and sang with him, we actually had a long conversation about Leon Thomas, how amazing he was and the influence that he had on so many singers like me and Mr Jarreau

For my 1000 followers mark I will share my duo with Al Jarreau live from french TV :)

Dude, merci for sharing ! 15 years of my own musical experience just slapped me in the face

I've been so out of touch for days I hadn't seen this.
It's such a wonderful thing to encounter such excellence everywhere and realize we all steal our bliss from the same well...
Phenomenal work with your guitarist there!
I love the the jumps from atonality to sweet melody.
