I have been pretty good at holding off buying any Lego for a while, but seeing i do have a soft spot for model cars and Lego, this was a double whammy!

This is the first officially licensed Nissan Lego :)

From the Nissan AU website

Asako Hoshino, executive vice president at Nissan said: “The Nissan GT-R and the LEGO brand are both renowned and loved by fans of all ages throughout the world, and we are honoured to be the first-ever Japanese car manufacturer to partner with the LEGO Group. Many of our Nissan customers can trace their automotive passion back to when they built LEGO cars as children. With this partnership, everyone can be a `Takumi’ – the specialised craftsmen that build the GT-R. And, it’s the GT-R’s 50th anniversary this year, so what better way to celebrate than to share the GT-R with Nissan and LEGO fans around the world!”

Fun Facts:

  • The Nissan GT-R NISMO will be available globally in January 2020.
  • It’s one of the first in the 2020 Speed Champions themed sets, which will be 25% bigger than in previous years.
  • Made from 298 LEGO elements.
  • LEGO design lead Chris Stamp: "Authenticity is always our main concern, and we spent a lot of time exploring different building techniques to correctly recreate the taillights, as they are one of the most recognizable details on the car"
  • This is the first-ever partnership between LEGO and a Japanese automaker.

I came across this lego set on japanese nostalgiccar, they are the guys to follow to stay up to date with model cars and Lego car themed releases, awesome website! I headed straight to the Lego website after finding out they were a Jan 2020 release, and of course they were sold out [as the website said, it is very popular] so i added my name to an email wait list and when i got an email a few days ago, i jumped on and purchased it right away!
All up it cost me just under $40AUD delivered, i was told they didn't have an Australian distributor and it may take a while, but it was there in 2 days!! Very happy :)

Half of me wants to build it, half of me wants to keep it in the box!

Got a feeling its going to be built soon, whats the point of toys if you cant play with them?!

Happy days,
Kenj
