I first joined Facebook in 2005 and immediately began using it to find girlfriends. In 2011, I started a business and a YouTube channel which led to earning millions of dollars online. Given my experience as a digital marketer, I hope you will find my insights on the state of social media marketing and my plan for this year helpful.
First, I see the future of social media moving towards decentralization given the existing business system is massively unfair to users and prone to heavy censorship. Web3 blockchain based alternatives are already emerging and offering a better deal. Here are 3 examples:

You can see on all 3 of these platforms I am actually earning money (minus downvotes on HIVE) just from making posts. While the transparency and availability of earnings is a blessing compared to platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok where most creators get nothing while generating a ton of income for the providers, what the decentralized social media platforms current tend to lack is traffic.
When I post on https://www.facebook.com/jbanfield/ I get an average of 10,000+ people reached per post. On https://twitter.com/JerryBanfield each post reaches a few hundred with some hitting over ten thousand. I am done using TikTok and Instagram so we will not even talk about those because they are so worthless to me. Despite all the people reached on the centralized social media platforms, I earn $0 unless I make some sales.
Then there is YouTube where my new crypto channel at https://www.youtube.com/@jerrybanfieldcrypto is growing rapidly and on pace to earn hundreds and maybe soon thousands of dollars a month just in ad revenue. YouTube truly is the top platform for creators now to earn a fair share of revenue. On my main channel at https://www.youtube.com/jerrybanfield I am closing in on $90,000 in ad revenue with much more from sales, sponsorships, and coaching.
Thus, the ideal way I see to go forward is to make a combination of written content that can be shared everywhere that funnels viewers to my YouTube videos and free courses on my website at https://www.jerrybanfield.com/ which provide the best learning experience I offer while building relationships via email. This overall strategy gives me assets I control such as an email list, reach on established platforms, a variety of income streams, and practically limitless opportunities to grow and server. While the lack of immediate results can sometimes be frustrating on a daily basis, other days go so well that I can barely keep up.
