I agree the US used to be a great manufacturing nation and it was once the epicenter of mass production.
However, with the cheap labour, land, taxes and everything else in China does make items really cheap and affordable for all of us across the globe.
I think most people most people's minds are away from factory work in the US and many don't realise the huge positive impact these factories have on our daily lives.
