Effective business mentors have either developed or learned a comprehensive, business-building system. Some systems demand an extraordinary level of skill.
The best systems can be mastered by anyone who has the desire and will to put in the effort. Anyone can “point, guide, and direct,” so the level of skill required to achieve success with such an effective systems has been reduced dramatically.
A good business-building system also allows for rapid duplication. Associates can readily model productive behaviors and skills for one another.

When The Student Is Ready!
You can only coach a student who demonstrates they are ready. If you have to “motivate” someone today, you’ll have to do it every day.

- Michael Dell (Dell Computers) started assembling computers in his dorm room.
- Richard Branson (Virgin Records, airlines, soft drinks, space travel, etc.) started marketing records by mail order.
- Ray Kroc (McDonald’s Restaurants) started by selling milkshake machines to restaurants out of his station wagon.
Take the long view. It’s more like farming than magic. You’re planting seeds that may take a long time to sprout and grow. So give it all you’ve got, but also give it time.

Maybe you can’t wait that long to see results. There are three ways you can speed things up.
- Be coachable.
- Tell the truth. Be brutally honest with yourself and your coach.
- Be hungry to learn.

I totally agree with you @pjcswart, mentor is a very crucial factor for a successful life. Other than that you must have a heart that is also willing to learn. Most successful business man or entrepreneurs are successful because they have someone to guide them along the way. They say find friends, for me find mentor and if that mentor can be your friend then that is awesome.

My mentors are my Aunts and uncles. They're all managers in there respective field. They always say look for mentor his life you want to be and copy it. Got influenced also with authors like Bo Sanchez, Francis Kong, Zig z and maxwell.
