For a beginner in vedic astrology, I will like to tell you that a single planet does not rule the whole horoscope. In other words, the prediction of an event is not based on a single planet only.
In a horoscope, there are 9 planets placed in different houses and the overall contribution of all the planets form our destiny / faith. There are many many more parameters in vedic astrology which need to be studied before arriving on the final prediction.
Since 2nd house denotes family and by that logic one can not predict that the placement of Jupiter in 2nd house of vedic horoscope alone can create childhood struggle for a native. No not possible at all.
One need to understand the childhood struggle first. What can be the possible kind of struggle as per a child is concerned.
It can be financial crisis due to which is demands were not meet. This is signified by 2nd cuspal sublord ( as per KP vedic astrology paddhati / method )
Educational struggles and that could be due to lack of money or dull in studies. This is signified by 4th cuspal sublord.
Mental stress due to no peace at home as there is always clash between the elders. This is signified by 4th cuspal sublord.
Health issues due to chronic disease. This is signified by 1st and 6th cuspal sublord.
So these events are signified by different house and one need to study those houses and learn the promises as per their significances of those houses and not just predicting on the base of Jupiter’s placement in the 2nd house.
When these houses ( 1,2,4 and 6th house ) are signifying 6,8 and 12th house in their significances, then they will always give bad results during the mahadasha running period of the planet which is also signifying this significances in its ruling period.
Now the readers can see how complex is vedic astrology and it is not just a one point analysis and a perfect prediction. An astrologer need to study many small small parameters and weave them together to pull out a final accurate prediction.
In other simple words is that an astrologer need to learn the promises of the horoscope first and then learn about their time of delivery of those events.
If the time of delivery of those events falls in the childhood period then that person will suffer / struggle during his / her childhood period.
If the time of delivery of those events falls in the adult period then that person will suffer / struggle during his / her adult period, but the nature of struggle / suffering can be different.
The same significances would manifest with different kind of events during adult period.
