It is cold today. Very Cold today, as in only 4 F, or -15 C for most of the rest of the world. There were a lot of nice sun reflecting sparklies in the trees this morning. I tried to get some pictures of them to share, but for some reason the new lens does not like frost covered tree limbs or branches, I just could not get a focused shot.
All was not lost though. we had our little outdoor, I like my picture being taken Mr. Deville, squirrel. He loves to come up to the slider and tease our cat Loki. He will perch on the ear of our carved bear and just stare her down. He will sometimes come flying off the bear right up to the door and seem as if he is laughing at her. knowing she can not get to him.
Here he is doing some posing as if asking which side is my best side? or is it the head on shot?
This is him thinking his right profile is the best.
But then he was unsure, so he turned around to present his other half, his left profile, or did he just turn around to contemplate the red rock that was behind him? You just never know what goes on in the mind of a squirrel. They are problem thinkers and solvers extraordinaire.
Here he is seeming to ask the question head on, - - So whats with the rock hat?
Hard to tell though if he is asking about the rock, or getting ready to go and pounce on a poor defenseless kitty behind a glass wall. In reality, he spied a piece of bread, he likes bread especially when it is cold outside.
Last but not least, is his action shot.
He likes to come and see if there has been any bread pieces from the birds left, and also to tease Loki. I think he likes teasing the poor cat. He has even thunked the slider right in front of her before.
I really did want to share the sparkly frozen drops, but the squirrel was a good stand in. No Cats, Dogs, Birds or Squirrels were harmed in the taking of these picture. All Pictures were taken by me.
I'm glad no animals were injured during these great and kool photos!
I needed a new ending for a new beginning. Sometimes the way these critters charge the window though you have to wonder.
New beginnings are important - especially at the start of the new year! They are very brave...
Oh you know I love this post, @bashadow! hehe Your littly squirrly friend is so cute - interesting how different they look from our grey squirrels here. Much more compact ;) I just love him! You'll have to share more....please! I just learned that squirrels love avocado and the seeds and also squash.
BTW, I just found an old video of that place in Anchorage called "The Bird Nest" - Do you remember us talking about that? I think you said it was gone now. Such a cool and historic place.

He is pretty much a show off for begging for bread pieces, and for teasing our poor cat. Yeah I remember that about the Birds Nest, a pretty strange place when it was around, but a fun unique place to visit.

Way up North, but not as far North as some people, In the State of Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. Lots of wildlife, not as much as some areas, but we do get moose, coyotes, wolves, and a pesky squirrel. So far no black bears have been seen in the yard, but we did see one only a couple miles away climbing up a hill from a small lake. My wife saw an ermine, (white weasel), but I missed it. We also had a porcupine visit, and a few rabbits.
Tons of wildlife! That is so cool :)

What a cutie! Your photos are great and I love that rocks just happen to show up, even in your wildlife photos!
My daughter stops by every morning, supposedly to check on me and see if there is anything that I need help with. But the reality is that she just wants to go out on the back deck and give her squirrel friends a few peanuts. They know that when she calls them they should come running from out of the woods so that they can each have a peanut or two. Her favorite is one that she can always recognize and she has named him Bill, even though I have strong suspicions that Bill is a girl and will be busy with baby squirrels in the not-too-distant future.
