D.P. _ Netflix K-drama

in #k-drama3 years ago (edited)

If you like watching foreign shows on Netflix, you may want to try D.P. (Deserter Pursuit)

It is a 6-episode Korean drama based on a webtoon. This is not some romantic dramas which some people may expect from K-drama. This is a dark military drama showing the sad and dark reality of Korean military service.

As this is a drama, of course, some aspects may have been exaggerated as a part of dramatization. But it is actually very realistic and this is what many young Korean guys have to go through as South Korea requires all young males to serve military.

It is indeed a very closed environment where everything works in a top-down way, and it's not some place you can just walk away if things don't work. The show is set in 2014 and I believe it must be better now since I was told that many things have changed nowadays like now they can bring there mobile phone and that service period is getting shorter, etc..

It is sad that South and North Korea are divided and technically the war has not ended yet(It's on 'HOLD'). So many young South Koreans males have to serve military whether or not they want, to protect the country.

Don't get me wrong, many people are proud for themselves serving for the country, but the experience in military can't always be fun, and it is understandable that there always has to be tension since they are dealing with all sort of weapons and one accident can cost many people's life.

World seems to be getting more and more divided and there still are places in the world where wars and battles are going on. I hope the world to understand each other more and walk together for peace..
