I was a bit alarmed when I went to sign in and had not yet read this. Since this kind of update can be activated by the user selecting a button, I ask if you can please do that in the future, to prevent the panic at the unexpected change involving what I use my keys for.

Chromium-based browsers allow users to force an update (make it happen faster), but they can't block it from happening automatically. So there's nothing we can do on this side. You can block automatic updates on Firefox though.
