Card Types
Champion
Champions are divided into two categories
Heroes: cards with abilities...
...and Creatures: cards without abilities
Paladins
Paladins will often serve as theme enablers or gain conditions within a deck thanks to the above-average power they bring to the board.
These cards are currently not in circulation but in the upcoming expansion, these should be available to use.
Rune/Tactic
Rune cards can be played directly from a player’s hand during their turn, but they don’t React to gameplay situations like Defenses do if Prepared. These cards can immediately be activated when prepared that can result to a wide variety of effects from increasing your HP/Power to lowering down your opponent's HP by a certain number.
Ambush
Ambush cards must be Prepared before they can take effect or React to a specific circumstance or situation (e.g. destroying the champion your opponent used to attack you)
How To Play
This is the actual battlefield.
The goal of this game is to reduce your opponent's HP from 8000 to 0.
Each player will start with 5 random cards from their deck on their hand.
In every turn, a player will take 1 card from their deck and have 100 seconds to either deploy their champions in battle/fortified position, activate rune cards and/or prepare their ambush cards and of course, attack.
This will be the battle loop and will end when one of the players' HP goes down to 0 or if one of them has no remaining cards on their deck.
POW and RES seen on the each card will determine the attack power and the resistance when attacked. The difference of POW from both players will be subtracted from the HP of the player with the lower POW and the champion attacked will be sent to the graveyard so no one is safe until the game is finally over.
There's a wide variety of cards with different abilities and some can even send your champions from the graveyard to the board.
The key to winning here is having good cards on your deck and of course, having the skills to create strategies that will surprise your opponents with moves the would never expect!
There are daily and weekly quests you can complete for you to get rewards such as cards and $KOD you can use to rent and purchase cards in-game.
That's basically all you need to know to start playing KOD. I am also a newbie to this kind of game but I'm learning!
I have uploaded a full review of this game, including one of the games I played.
And if you're interested in playing, you may use my Referral Link and start playing. You can play this for free, should you wish to try. You will be provided with free cards when you register.
Hope you learned a thing or two!
Thanks and see you around!
