[Restaurant_Seoul] Uijeongbu Pyongyang myeonok, Pyongyang style noodles 의정부 평양면옥

I previously posted about Pyongyang naengmyeon, Korean cold noodles. (if you'd like to know what exactly it is, please refer to the post) This restaurant is actually located north of Seoul, Uijeongbu. Uijeongbu is a city across the main invasion route from the North, so it has a military significance geographically and there are U.S. and Korean military bases. Whether or not its location is very close to the North, I feel like I have a real North Korean foods here. This restaurant is an origin of Pildong myeonok, Eulji myeonok, which are two of the top 4 restaurants for Pyongyang naengmyeon. So, if you love Pyongyang naengmyeon, it may be quite meaningful to visit here.

The noodles are thin compared to the others and the soup tastes very simple but sublime. They also have dumplings, boiled beef or pork and so on, so if noodles are not enough, I recommend to order one of them. If it is too much to have whole plate, do not worry, you can order a half plate too. (it is not written on the menu) To be honest, if you do not have any reason to visit Uijeongbu city or a ride to get there, I would say not to go. (There is nothing else to do) But if not, please.

평양냉면의 성지, 필동면옥과 을지면옥, 논현 평양면옥의 뿌리. 50년 전통 의정부 평양면옥. 단 한가지 단점이 있다면 거리가 멀다는 건데, 멀어도 [평양냉면에 애착이 있다면] 찾아가볼만한 맛이다. 얇고 졸깃한 면발에 깊고 깔끔한 육수가 너무 훌륭하다. 메밀향과 육향의 딱 적당한 조합. 확실히 을지보다는 조금 더 진한 육수가 평양냉면이 생소한 사람들에게는 더 맛있게 느껴질지도 모르겠다는 생각. 멀리 있어서 항상 아쉽지만, 그래서 뭔가 더 애착이 가는 곳.
