Well, for me it is a dream to visit South Korea but as it is impossible for me, in these moments. I started watching videos on YouTube and looking for copper I found gold. It turns out that I saw a video that talked about studying for free in Korea and I was even more surprised to see that those who participated in the video were Venezuelan. And I started to find out about it.

Korea Government Scolarship Program: This is a scholarship granted by the Korean government, which gives foreigners opportunities to study in Korea with full payment. But, for this you have to meet some requirements, as they are:

Have an average higher than 80%
Neither your parents nor you can be of Korean nationality
Speak English (not required)
Speak Korean (it is not mandatory either, since the first year of the scholarship is to learn the language) but if you submit TOPIK they give you priority to get the scholarship.

How do I apply?

Ok, there are two ways to apply:

Via University: You look for the university in which you want to apply, download the forms and send the requirements (Any questions you can communicate directly with the university and they will help you solve any concerns you have).

You should also know that this method has two phases:

Be accepted at the university
Be accepted by the KGSP

Via Embassy: They should be on the page www.studyinkorea.go.kr When they publish the dates and once they meet the requirements, they should take them to the Korean Embassy in their country.

This process consists of 3 phases:

Be accepted by the embassy
Be accepted by the KGSP
Be accepted by the university.

When do they publish the dates?

Well, it depends on the method and the program you want to take. For example, if you are going to study via university, you should be attentive on the page of the university you want to enter, while at the embassy, you should be attentive on the website www.studyinkorea.go.kr for when they publish the dates and the requirements and forms that you must complete to apply.

Normally, the dates for Masters and Doctorates are published in February and the dates for Bachelor or Pre-degree are published in September of each year.

Benefits of KGSP

The KGSP offers you many benefits and I will mention some of them:

Return plane ticket (after 5 years)
Monthly payment of 800,000 won
200,000 won when you arrive (This is not given when you get to the airport because the first two weeks, approximately, personal expenses are on your own, since this time is to open bank accounts, register at the university, etc. .. once you have your bank account you will be deposited the 200,000 won as a replacement for the money you spent, so I recommend you have a minimum of $ 200 if you plan to apply)

If you have more than level 6 (if I remember correctly) in TOPIK they give you a monthly 100.ooo wons more.

Advantages of applying Via Embassy:

You can select 3 universities, so you are more likely to be accepted
You do not spend so much money
There are more quotas

Advantages of applying Via University:

The process is faster
The interview is done via the internet, so if you are shy, it is perfect.
The interview is short-lived

Disadvantages of applying Via Embassy:

The process is longer
The interview is personal
The interview is longer

Disadvantages of applying via University

You can only select 1 university, if you are not accepted, you will automatically be disqualified from the scholarship.
You must pay the shipping costs of documents from your country to Korea
The quotas are less

Can I apply through the Embassy and via University at the same time?

DO NOT! If you are discovered, you automatically become disqualified.
