베네수엘라, 국영기업에 암호화폐 '페트로' 사용 의무화...페트로 골드 발행도 계획

베네수엘라 국영 기업들이 자국 공식 암호화폐인 페트로(Petro)를 사용하게 됐다.

22일(현지시간) 코인데스크에 따르면 베네수엘라 니콜라스 마두로(Nicolas Maduro)대통령은 몇몇 국영기업에 판매 및 구입비 일부를 페트로로 전환하라고 지시했다.

마두로 대통령은 페트로 프리세일 성명을 통해 “오늘 부로 PDVSA, Pequiven, CVG의 매매 비용 일부를 페트로로 진행하라고 했다”고 밝혔다.

PDVSA는 국영 석유 및 천연가스 기업으로 미국의 제재 대상이다. Pequiven는 국영석유화학회사이며, CVG는 탈중앙 대기업으로 알루미늄 및 금 생산기업 등의 자회사를 보유하고 있다.

마두로 대통령은 “국민들은 페트로 등 암호화폐를 석유, 항공, 여행 서비스 결제에 사용할 수 있게 될 것”이라고 말했다.

베네수엘라 정부는 세금 납부, 수수료, 기타 국가 서비스에도 페트로 사용을 약속했다.

암호화폐 세계가 국가 지원 암호화폐 발행에 적응함에 따라 마두로 정부는 또 다른 화폐 출시를 계획하고 있다.

한편, 마두로 대통령은 페트로 프리세일을 시작한 다음 날, 두 번째 암호화폐인 ‘페트로 골드(petro gold)’를 다음주 공개한다고 발표했다.

정부는 페트로 골드가 금 기반의 암호화폐로 페트로의 더욱 강화된 버전이라고 설명했다. 하지만 자세한 설명은 없었다. 반면, 암호화폐를 지원할 금이 베네수엘라 중앙은행이 보유하고 있는 금인지 금 매장 자원인지도 불명확한 상태이다.
