Bitcoin Price Is Too High
People buy shares into all kinds of markets, some more volatile in nature than others, Bitcoin it could be said is just a little wilder. Not to diverge, no matter what you invest into, most do not buy and hold a bar of gold, investments made into gold sitting in holding somewhere safe.
Buying/selling is part of commerce, tangible assets are not something held in hand, but shown on books. Any economy can slide and loose value, watching stock exchanges one will see movements similar to bitcoin.
Start small and grow slowly, there is enough for everyone, moving at the rate bitcoin did at the end of 2017 an adjustment was necessary, that does not mean it does not work.
Too many climbed onboard not realizing new technology is volatile, massive increase in buying/selling happened during December 2017 when prices went up, if you purchased hold, don't sell before the market returns to a level where you do not show great loss.
Bitcoin Is Too Volatile
Yes, agreed it is volatile as crypto decentralized currency not backed by any banks or physical assets, still in the wild west phase!
With time this will settle, whilst pricing is relatively low it stands to reason to start investing what you are able to afford. We do not know when this will start to crest again, interest abounds, technology is here to stay.
Bitcoin Is Bad For The Environment
So are print presses running currencies off with little to no value either! Printing a currency takes electricity, paper, water, inks and specialized watermarks, manufacturing and distribution, also holds negative environmental issues.
Miners of bitcoin actively seek out countries where there is an abundance of cheap electricity, building for tomorrow. Early years one could happily mine on a home computer, when bitcoin showed worth, many miners built at big investment for equally good rewards.

This is really an aspect of this journey that is passing me by. The volatility of cryptocurrency is not affecting me at the level I'm at. And I'm focussing on engagement with the time I have available. My investment of time and money is not nearly enough to help me make it big. But it is fun and a learning experience. Which is enough for me for now.
