Last year at this time it was much colder here in Austria and the weather was not so wet as today. Because of the cold weather we didn't even have a lot of snow but enough to cover the fields and trees with it. Even rivers like the danube started to freeze like you can see on the picture obove, this is happening only very seldom. I walked up a hill near the Schlögener Schlinge together with a friend of mine for some pictures at sunset. We had luck and came there at the right time but because of the fog the sunset had only very soft colors, and there was only few red in it.

That's an amazing shot! I didn't know large rivers like Danube could also freeze! Must be really really cold to get up early to take this shot!
Yes it is very rare that the danube freezes but the last winter it was so cold that it started to freeze on special points where the waterflow is not so fast,
